Kasey Kahne is no longer with RPM - effective immediately. Consider this insider info - I found out about thirty minutes ago.

Details to follow.

Editing to add more - what I have heard in the last few minutes...
Kasey is going to the 83 Red Bull car for the last five races of the season. Marcos Ambrose may move over to the 9 car for the last five (he is in the 9 next year). Bobby Labonte would move to the 47 (he is in that car next year).

RPM may not run past Martinsville: UPDATES: The house of cards is finally falling for George Gillett's Richard Petty Motorsports. The assembly line from Roush Fenway Racing and Roush Yates engines has stopped running to RPM. Engines have been picked up, cars have been repossessed, and sources on both sides -- RPM and RFR -- say no cars will be delivered beyond Martinsville this weekend. On Thursday morning, crewmen at RPM were told they may not have jobs after the race at Martinsville Speedway this weekend. Neither Petty team CEO Foster Gillett nor team Vice President Robbie Loomis could be reached for comment. RPM currently fields four cars in the Sprint Cup Series -- the #9, #19, #43 and #98.

Kasey Kahne was released from his contract as of Wednesday night and is expected to drive for Red Bull Racing for the remainder of the year and in 2011. Elliott Sadler is expected to drive for Kevin Harvick Inc. next year. Paul Menard signed a multi-year deal to drive for Richard Childress Racing starting next year. His current crew chief Richard "Slugger" Labbe will continue his duties at RCR.

AJ Allmendinger re-signed a multiyear deal to drive the #43 Ford this summer. Allmendinger is currently 20th in the point standings. Marcos Ambrose was signed to drive the #19 Ford in August. Ambrose currently drives for JTG/Daugherty Racing and is 26th in the point standings.(Fox Sports)(10-21-2010)

UPDATE: The story has now been updated to include: "Sources tell FOXSports.com that the Talladega cars were returned after 11 a.m. ET Thursday, but they do not have engines or gears yet."(10-21-2010)

UPDATE 2: Multiple sources confirmed to SPEED.com on Thursday that Roush Fenway Racing, which builds RPM's cars, briefly repossessed RPM's Talladega cars and engines because of non-payment. Roush Fenway Racing allowed RPM to take the cars back Thursday morning, sources told SPEED.com.

Additionally, sources said that one of the reasons Kahne was released from the team is that RPM owed him a substantial amount of back salary. A team spokesperson contacted Thursday afternoon declined to say whether or not Kahne was owed money, Roush Fenway Racing was owed money, when team owner George Gillett would publicly discuss his team's situation or what RPM's plans were beyond this weekend. What I have heard in the last hour or so...

Any employee at RPM who was planning to go with Kasey to Red Bull for 2011 was booted out the door today.

Kasey will dive the 83 car for the remainder of the season. Aric Almirola will be in the 9 car at Martinsville. After Marty, and if RPM still exists, Marcos Ambrose will slide over to the 9 car and Bobby Labonte will be in the 47 car - all for the remainder of the season.

Crazy stuff happening. Sounds like George Gillet is in a world of hurt.

Ok, sounds like the big switcheroo is not going to happen. Ambrose's sponsors want to keep him in the 47 car until the end of the season.

Scott Speed is out at Red Bull after the season and Kahne will take that ride. Speed becomes a free agent.

It's getting tough for my adult-ADD riddled brain to keep up with all the changes in NASCAR.

Kasey's going to Red Bull now. Then to something resembling Hendrick next year. I know this is a dumb question, but how hard would it have been for Stewart-Haas to build a few extra back ups, use the back ups they had for Kasey, and let him finish out the season there?

I know cars aren't cheap, or easy to build, but I think the payoff would be dramatic next year if they started now.

On the other hand, the business decision for Red Bull makes huge sense. They were definitely on the right path before Vickers' illness. But Kasey brings a name recognition they don't have otherwise. Not to mention a damn good driver. Should certainly help with recruiting wheelmen down the road.

I'm dog tired, so if none of that made sense at all, I'm not surprised.

I have a feeling there is more to the story and the next few days are going to be very interesting. Tension type exciting. Finger pointing exciting. Brawls? Eh, nah. But it could get fun.

The lesson here? Stay away from anything George Gillett touches. It's like poison.
 
RPM owes RFR about $12 million. Heck, I say take AJ and give them Ragan as compensation.
 
Robby Gordon took one of his race cars and decided to drive it (at a high rate of speed) on interstate 77 today. He got pulled by a cop near Huntersville. More details coming tomorrow.

Jim Hunter passed away overnight. Big loss to the NASCAR community. Prayers for his family and loved ones. And thanks to Jim for bringing integrity and class to the sport all these years.

Hunter was a great guy, and great for the sport. Sad day indeed.

I think she's got a pretty good chance of visiting that 1 car in Victory Lane when it's all said and done.

That being said, I hope the track bar breaks in her broom. :laugh:
 
I do that Halloween gag every year. A different pic each time, but the message is the same. :)

Tomorrow is the wild card. Denny and Kyle had two car runs together in the practice sessions - the only cars to to top 200 (201, Mark Martin was next fastest at 197). Wonder if they have something figured out. Logano's car could be strong too and could help either one.
