Hope everyone’s doing well. I’ve missed you all, and I’m happy to be able to swing by say hi. It’s been a long time since I spoke to you all. Hope life’s treated you well more often than not over the years. I’ll swing by and keep in touch going forward.
 
I don't know if 'karma' is a real thing or not?

But I really, really hope it is.
 
My family has begun a habit of starting movies after dinner. It creates a situation where I miss the first 30-60% of the movie (last night I was doing the dishes, tonight I had to take one kid to basketball practice)

I cannot stand watching a movie when I’ve walked in 30-60% through. It makes my brain want to explode.

They think I’m being rude by not joining them but it legitimate drives me nuts
 
So, I actually used last weekends lack of football to build a work bench from scratch... for the most part. The shipping crates from Yamaha watercraft are good steel, so 4 of those for the legs / base frame. Butted 2 up end to end for the rear section. Cut down the other and welded the cross members to the rear section. An 8ft runner across front and rear, and 6 stringers for the sub frame, and w 8ft planks for the top. I've needed bench space for ever, but anything good quality, and that large go for over a grand. I'm $86 and change into it...

Pete - you are a man's man brother. My Dad sometimes did projects but he was not really great with his hands. As a result, I have rarely had the balls to take on any major projects and have few skills on that front. That's amazing, and the fact that you even have skills to do your own welding is awesome. Kudo's, very talented :cheers:

Thanks John. I just got lucky, my dad didn't know which end of the screwdriver to hold LOL Got it from my moms side of the family, along with the body hair....
 
They are laying off people a lot my job. One of my teammates was let go. And he was definitely the weakest link, but it’s still a shock to get that news. There was a layoff last month and someone on another team who was well respected was laid off. So there isn’t always a rhyme or reason to who is chosen. It’s created a lot of anxiety at work for those affected and not directly affected. I’m kind of depressed even though I know in this case, the right person was let go. It’s just not something I wanted to actually hear.
 
Damn, that sucks. As someone in IT I used to always be told in advance when a layoff was coming and had to pretend like I didn't know anything. There is nothing that makes you feel like a bigger piece of trash than not telling someone you know and like they are getting let go and that he's going to have to scramble to make sure he provides for his family

I was thinking...:rolleyes: new bench needed a fire extinguisher :unsure: Somehow, I went a little overboard.1904 American LaFrance 1qt fire extinguisher I picked up a few years ago. Incase of fire "Break Glass" I've had for years. Then I went over the top... literally. Had this small Dietz # 50 lantern, and an old table lamp. Little of this, and a little of that, and I wound up with this. Lights work individually or together thanks to good quality parts from the table lamp. 98% done, just have to finish painting the lettering on the extinguisher, and clear coat.

Pete did a custom job for me on a 1930's photo of my grandmother and great aunt's high school team photo. It came out so incredible, throw some work his way if you have an heirloom photo you want something done with.

Our St Bernard is 7.5 and she took a sudden turn for the worse. She hasn't eaten or drank anything significant in several days and seems to be losing her mental capacity.

This was our first real family dog and we got her when we bought the house. It's been a really tough weekend with all the tears, but Mondays appointment might lead to her being put down while the boys are at school.
