Not sure I like us partnering with them though lol

Considering the market share decline that AHB is going through this might be more desperation than new ownership

An AB board member is one of the limited partners.

Might as well change the name back if that's the case. AB is really hated where I'm living.

I don't drink bud light and never really did. I supported the boycott, but it seems that it worked and they regret what they did.

I can tell you this though. Every concert and event with an AB spot is usually a ghost town. People will wait in super long lines for the exact same beer in Coors over them just because it's a point to prove.

So, I'm not sure how the Redskins don't lose money on this deal.

I think it’s a big nothing burger all the way around.

So - without crossing the line into ‘politics’, is it just me, or does it seem ill-advised to make one of your first corporate moves making the most-controversial (and arguably despised) beer brand in America the ‘official beer of the Washington Commanders?

Disco on Twitter was arguing that Jason Wright should probably get credit for this deal. And I’m like ‘yeah, that sounds exactly like something Jason Wright would do’…

I could care less about the whole Bud Light controversy, but why do we need to be the ones to help AB rebuild their market share for that brand? You’d think controversy would be the last thing this team would want?

I don't remember the exact numbers but AB is the official beer sponsor for the majority of the league, and by majority I mean all but like 3 or 4 teams.

Not that they will but AB could stock the whole stadium with beer without the casual beer drinker (which is most of the US) even knowing they were drinking an AB product.

This is exactly the kind of move I was talking about on the Pod where we get an old sponsor back. I like it.

I’m not talking about AB. I’m talking about pronouncing Bud Light the official beer of the Washington Commanders right after it’s been the victim of a PR nightmare. Seems clumsy to me. And based on the social media uproar I’d say it had the anticipated backlash. Probably inconsequential long-term and maybe they knew there would be an uproar and just decided it was worth it?

Yeah, AB owns craft beer companies as well as seltzers too. Announcing bud light is definitely intentional.....and dum

To me it sounds more like something that Disco would opine. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I won't get into the politics of it. What's will be interesting to me going forward is hopefully learning how the new ownership group, with all of its business acumen, calculated the risk/reward. These are not dumb people--they knew what they were stepping into.

My point would be, they could have announced the partnership without going down the path of announcing transgenderale as the official beer. It just seems poorly thought out so not everything has changed :)

Could be.

Or maybe we don't know what we don't know yet.

But you knew I was going to say that. :)

That rainbow hat is becoming more and more appropriate. 😉

It isn't just where you are my local clubhouse stocks 50% of what they used to

Didn't they just sell their craft beers to a Canadian company?

I concur, unnecessary optics and a tone deaf decision on the announcement but "out with the old, in with the old??"

Given they are the beer of choice for most of the NFL, is it possible Bud Light is considered every NFL team's beer? Might be standard part of the contract.
