Random Commanders Thoughts

It’s ok guys. Ron gets it. I feel much better now.

To be fair, that snippet is totally out of context without hearing his entire statement.

Truthfully, there's literally nothing Rivera or anyone in Washington can say that is going to lessen the criticism or make anyone feel better. Nothing.

It’s fine. I was mostly just mocking the outrage in the tweet over his cursing.

Not directed at your Kel - It's kind of a shame that guys like JP Finlay want to fan the already hot flames by putting out that quote - and only that quote, but at this point, burn baby burn... 🔥

A lot of his comments don't address that he was given the keys to the kingdom here. He has clearly left his prints all over the place. There is no disguising who selected the coaching staff *AND* the front office here. It was Ron. These are RON'S guys. The main people his own coaching staff is calling out these days are key people RON'S GUYS picked. Jamin Davis. Wentz. These are the guys getting called out the most from what I've seen.

He is saying something along the lines of it takes time to fix an organization that's falling apart. It just doesn't seem like there's any accountability for the guy who has clearly made the decisions that have led to fairly obvious regression. It definitely takes time to replace a whole team and organization with all of your buddies. You're almost done, Ron, just a little more time; I read you!

I can give Rivera some grace for the first 2 seasons - he had a ton of adversity that we are all familiar with. But this offseason, he seemed more concerned with helping Jason Wright roll out a new name no one wanted or liked - meanwhile acting like we were set on the roster. He did nothing to beef up/improve what all of us could see was a weak linebacking corps, doubled down on his secondary, and let key pieces of the OL and DL walk as if he could just replace those guys with walk ons. And then there is Wentz who the jury is still out on, but it's 11-1 and the lone holdout is about to cave any Sunday now.

We got worse this offseason. I'm not sure how a capable HC/GM let's that happen and then acts offended when he is being held to account.

3 years is an eternity in the career of an NFL coach. He'll be lucky if he gets a 4th.

The Ron Rivera pension fund.

He might have fired his own guy just for appearance's sake.

Correctamundo.

We as fans pointed fingers and laughed when Philly fired Chip Kelly and tore the team apart only to watch them rebuild/retool with Pederson and win a SuperBowl while this club remained stuck in neutral.

Now they let go of Pederson, hired Sirianni, retooled and stocked their shelves with high picks and are currently the class of the NFC East.
Meanwhile,Ron sits on a zoom a quarter of Year 3 gone and tells us he gets it and it's going to take time.

I would say it's unbelievable but living through the last 25 years, nothing is surprising anymore.
I mean, they could come out wearing purple polka dots on the helmet and jersey and it wouldn't surprise me.Dan,Wright and Ron are capable of anything.....

If Rivera promises Snyder to be a loyal stooge...he might very well come back...with everything the same. After all, his Carolina cronies got a pension fund to feast on. He's done well in that regard so far.

Ran across this picture from October of 2019 today...it was my Halloween costume.

Absolutely nothing has changed.

This game was winnable today with a competent QB. Wentz is the reason that we lost. The play-calling was so conservative today because Turner and Rivera know that Wentz's decision making and accuracy sucks ass.

Most competent head coaches would have benched Wentz by now, because he is so freaking horrible. There is no way in hell that Wentz should have still been out there playing in the 4th quarter today, not after the past 3 games.

speculation, but i'll play.

This game was also winnable with compentant offensive playcalling.

For every argument you make about Wentz, I can make the same one about Turner. Again, Wentz is not at all free of responsibility, but neither is the coaching / playcalling. Wentz has nothing to do with Jackson bailing and leaving Ceedee Lamb alone for a TD. Wentz has nothing to do with Fuller getting roasted. Wentz is not the reason we rushed for 101 yards in the first half and ended the game with 142. You believe that Turner's playcalling is because he doesn't trust his QB... but we're seeing a lot of the same thing we've seen in years past. Failing to adjust to a pass rush by helping out the QB. He did it with Alex Smith, go back and look at the first time Smith got sacked by Donald. 3rd and 4... 3 WRs in trips and McKissic in the backfield on a designed route to the flat. NO help on the blitz AND the first read is opposite side of the field from McKissic, despite Alex having half a freakin leg. Here's a screen shot once again of Turner giving no help, and running a congested offense that does not prioritize the outlet pass. McKissic is wide open but the first read is to the left where there are 2 recivers within feet of eachother... resulting in 2 defenders within feet of eachother. Here's the screen grab.

Here's one with Heinicke against Dallas. Again.. 3rd and 4, 4 receivers split out, RB in the backfield with no blitz package pickup. Gregory comes completely clean from around the left side. Gibson runs out on a leak route after looking right at the
free running blitzer (leading me to believe he's not there in protection) and Heinicke has no chance.

Here's the play we all remember from the game vs Dallas when Taylor was QB. Gibson motions out of the backfield and it's now an empty set with 5... yes 5 receivers split out, after Heinicke had been struggling to that point to get a rhythm. The route combination calls for some sort of traffic jam in the middle of the field forcing Heinicke to hold the ball (sound familiar?)

Again, no help blocking with 5 receivers and 1 QB, that leaves 5 lineman to block 5 defenders, including a blitzing Parsons who abuses Scherff and blows Heinicke up forcing a fumble... where was he supposed to go with this ball?

The problematic scheme is not exclusive to Wentz, nor is it conservative to mitigate him. It's a problematic scheme.

here's another one with Heinicke, down 24 points, again empty set... 5 receivers out... Heinicke gets forced to scramble and tries a deep ball to Terry that gets him concussed. Meanwhile the middle of the field was wide open, but the progression didnt let Heinicke see it. By the time he see's the crosser, there's too much traffic in the middle of the field. If Bates (i think) is sent down field, Humphries probably catches this for a long gain. Again, so much traffic (presumably to create confusion for the defense) is bringin players (and defenders) together. Heinicke is then forced out and throws a YOLO ball to Terry and gets him knocked out.

Just pretend it’s the beginning of any other season in the last umpteen years. Maybe some names and faces have changed, but the results are still the same.
