I stole this idea from Colin Dunphy - @Colin_WFTnews on Twitter. Let's see your answers for the 2022 draft.

1. What's your Best Case scenario?
2. What's the team's biggest need?
3. After QB, what position is the most valuable TO YOU?
4. What's your Worst Case scenario?

My answers:

1. Gardner or London are available at #11
2. MLB
3. WR - because this is a passing league now
4. Drafting a QB at #11

My answers:

2. MLB

I agree with this one. Surprisingly, I personally havn't seen single mock draft that has us taking any LB with pick 1. And I've seen a lot of mocks.
I'm assuming this means that this draft is really weak for LB's

1. Pickett is on the board and we get a nice set of picks in return to trade down
2. Complimentary wide out to Terry
3. O-line or D-line depth
4. We trade up for anyone sacrificing picks in this draft and future drafts

1. Best Case Scenario - find a way to get another pick on Day 2 of the draft without moving from #11. The depth of this draft is its strength and we are missing out only having one pick currently at #47 on Day 2.

2. Biggest Need - maybe not immediately in 2022, but given the short length remaining on some of our CB contracts, I would say Cornerback is towards the top of the list.

3. My Most Valuable Position - Wide Receiver. We lacked difference makers last year - this team needs a jolt of electricity.

4 - Worst Case Scenario - drafting a Defensive Tackle at #11 as a means of replacing Payne.

1. What's your Best Case scenario?
We take Hamilton or London at 11, Brisker in Round 2 and get quality after that. If Pickett fell to us, we would be fools not to take him but I think there is almost zero chance of it happening.

2. What's the team's biggest need?
I think most of us agree a MLB is our biggest need although safety is not far behind.

3. After QB, what position is the most valuable TO YOU?
We need a defensive QB like London Fletcher was for us. That doesn’t have to be a LB but it usually is.

4. What's your Worst Case scenario? Trading down for the sake of trading down and watching all the top prospects get taken in front of us. Any input whatsoever from our idiot Lord Farquaad owner would also be bad.

1. Hamilton, Jameson Williams, London. In that order.

2. A star-caliber player at any position, a game changer.

3. A stud that can play the run in the middle of the defense and cover TEs.

4. Trading down for quantity over quality. Stars matter.

I wouldn't say it is a weak draft for LBs. What I would say is that this year is very short on LBs with 1st round talent and none worth a Top 15 pick

1. What's your Best Case scenario?
Dan Snyder is sucked into a wormhole and disappears forever right after a minor trade down that still nets us Kyle Hamilton, Williamson, or Olave.
2. What's the team's biggest need?
Better play calling by the coaches and better communication by the players. Playerwise, I think safety or middle linebacker. Someone who can neutralize tight ends would be amazing. On offense, I'm more concerned about the o-line than the weapons.
3. After QB, what position is the most valuable TO YOU?
On offense, the o-line.
4. What's your Worst Case scenario?
Bruce Allen and Vinny get rehired. NFL comes out and completely clears Snyder

1. We trade down without losing our ass, while another squad gives us a 3rd or player for Payne.
2. Safety
3. Offensive line
4. Wasting our 2nd on Matt Corral

Hang on to your hats for this first one. But it's definitely a great scenario.

1. Trade down with New Orleans to pick up both of their first round picks. Trade the 19th pick to Atlanta for their 2022 2nd and 2023 first round pick, which could be the top pick in next years draft. And still pick Hamilton or one of the top WR with the 16th pick.
2. DB - It's Curl and a lot of questions. Jackson either sucks or isn't a good fit. Fuller isn't what he was the first time around. St Juste's injuries concern me. McCain and Reaves are good depth guys, so an upgrade will help.
3. O-Line. I'll never be mad at taking O-Line depth. It's rarely sexy but always efficient.
4. Drafting a QB in Round 1 and an RB in round 2. Outside of taking a kicker early, this may be the only scenario that doesn't upgrade the team now.

1. Kenny Pickett drops to 11. We PICK him. Because if you don't have a proven starting QB, you can't win. So you keep picking one every damn year until you do. If Carson Wentz can't handle the job, or handle having a 1st round QB sitting behind him, or turns out to be a guy who really can't stick on a team for more than a season or two, you have a possible plan B. Or if by some miracle Wentz DOES blow up and we've finally found our guy after 30 years, you have a 1st round QB as insurance and/or collateral on a rookie contract. Yes, I'm obsessed with this team having real quarterback, and I will be until we do.

2. Other than QB? Linebacker.

3. For the 2022 Commanders? Linebacker!

4. None of my top four for the 11th pick---Pickett, Hamilton, Williams, London---are there, and we get stuck in no-man's land trying to decide between a possible reach at 11 or just some guys who might be something further down. And we end up meh.

1. What's your Best Case scenario?

Trade 11 (1st round) to Pittsburgh for 20 (1st round), 52 (2nd round), and 138 (4th round). Trade back 9 spots and pickup a 2nd and a 4th round pick.

According to this draft value table the picks are valued as:

11 - 1250

20 - 850
52 - 380
138 - 37 - total (1267)

Draft:
20 - Treylon Burks - WR Arkansas
47 - Perrion Winfrey - DT - Oklahoma
52 - Troy Andersen - LB - Montana State

2. What's the team's biggest need?

Playmakers. Offensive or defensive. Guys that can effect the game by themselves. This can be a top tier WR, it can be a disruptive force on any of the 3 levels of the middle of the defense (DT ((if we trade payne), LB, S) or it can even be a late(r) round RB that changes the dynamic of the offense in some way. We need guys who effect the gameplan of the opposing defense during the week leading up to the game on Sunday. I know that seems generic, but i don't think it's specific to position.

3. After QB, what position is the most valuable TO YOU?

Linebacker. I think it's the position where we have the most to 'gain.'

4. What's your Worst Case scenario?

Malik Willis at 11. I have my concerns that he'll even make it in the NFL. I worry about his mental ability, not his physical one. The red flag of going from Auburn to Liberty is scary. I dont think he processes the passing game well enough to be able to do it at the NFL level. He was not overwhelmingly dominant in a conference that you NEED to be overwhelmingly dominant if you're good enough to play in the NFL . I look at Cole Kelley (thank you all for pointing him out last night on the podcast fellas) at Southeastern Louisiana and the numbers he put up.

406/552 - 5124YD - 44TD - 10INT.

THAT is what you do against 'lesser' competition... not this...

207/339 - 2857YD - 27TD - 12INT
rushing:
197 carries - 878YD - 13TD

I guess I see a tiny bit of ‘conflict’ between your first 2 responses ST? If getting ‘playmakers’ is our biggest priority, why trade down for more picks? I know it’s *possible* to find playmakers anywhere in the draft, but the sure-fire guys are taken early. Burks is good, but is he Jameson Williams or Kyle Hamilton good?

Stars matter.

How many proven stars are currently on the Washington roster? 2? 3?

If they trade back more than a very few spots knowing that who we want at 11 will still be there, I will be pissed.

fair point, but i think you can accomplish both. The first question is BEST CASE SCENARIO, i think those 3 picks are very impactful.

Ultimately to your point, no I don't think any one of those 3 is 1 to 1, but i think the sum of those 3, especially Winfrey / Andersen being injected into the middle of that defense can be a massive upgrade (or a major bust, it's a risk).

I generally agree with you about getting difference makers. This team needs them bad. But to trade or not to trade back depends on who is on the board. What if all the playmakers are off the board? It’s hard to say that until the draft shakes out. It will be upsetting if they come out do this with no playmakers, but sometimes the draft may be settled for them before they can even pick.
