The Bombshell

Totally agree - I'm just stating the obvious. Has an NFL owner ever been voted out for cause? I don't think so. So for it to happen, it has to be something where the other owners literally feel they have no choice. My bar on that front (and your all's) is probably a lot lower than the threshold for the owners to act. That's all I mean by that.

100% with ya brother. Something else to kinda consider is the more heat Dan takes, the less is on them. You know those mf’s have been bleach bitting the piss out of their computers lately too.

Probably. I do think the 'all owners are dirty' stuff is overplayed. We want to believe that because if it's not true, it's only our POS owner. I'm sure there are other problem owners (Jerry Jones HAS to be described that way, right? Maybe Kraft and some others). But I'm not sure I believe that just because our owner is evil incarnate, all of the rest of the NFL ownership is 'just as bad'. I don't buy it, other than a general distaste we all have for the uber-rich. It's all a matter of degree.

I’d feel comfortable going with a 50/50 estimate of good vs bad.

I can’t think of more than one current NFL owner that is universally despised by it’s fan base on a human level.

Evil? No, probably not evil.

Dirty? Yeah, I think every last one of them is dirty. I don't believe anyone reaches that level of wealth without being dirty in some way, shape, or form. That kind of money buys power and power corrupts.

They haven’t removed him because it is unprecedented to force a sitting owner out. Richardson in Carolina sold voluntarily and it never came to that. To cross into this territory the NFL would want something not just ‘bad’ or ‘despicable’ but ‘illegal’. Depending on the evidence this could meet that standard.
What about DeBartolo? Can't completely remember that scandal or how the ownership of the 49ers flipped. That may have been a force situation even if they sold it differently.

Power can corrupt. but 'corrupts' as a universal? I don't believe that.

This latest news, I do wonder how many other owners are doing that. If it’s true that Snyder fudged the numbers to keep revenue from the visiting team, that is something I could see other owners doing. These guys love their money. I’m not saying they are all corrupt, but to steal a line from A Few Good Men “You don't get to that position without knowing how to side-step a few land mines.” Maybe he is the only one, but I would definitely believe it if I heard about other owners who have found creative ways to report revenue to keep more money for themselves.

They supposedly have their financials audited annually. So if Snyder really did misrepresent the team's revenue #'s - that's not 'fudging', that would require a lot of deception to escape detection on an audit.

I have no interest in arguing the other owners are saints - I'm sure a lot of them would be found lacking under close scrutiny. But there's not even rumored financial impropriety by anyone other than Dan Snyder. Until there is, that's just wild speculation.

Looks like all of the Bruce Allen conspiracy theorists were way off on this one...

The article describes Friedman as a 24 year 'ticketing employee' when he was terminated in 2020, although at the time of his termination for unidentified cause he was apparently a 'VP'. I'm not sure someone at this level would be privy to the kind of information needed to make this allegation - certainly not enough to make it stick.

This may not even be true, but even if it is, if this is all Congress has - the word of a disgruntled mid-level former employee - with no incriminating evidence, this won't go anywhere.

Maybe, but midlevel employees do have a history of being the whistle blowers.

If he were in the finance/accounting department, I'd have more hope. Trying to envision how this guy would have the goods on Dan Snyder, just sounds unlikely. But I hope he does of course.

I understand they are audited, but if that is the case, how would it not be found until now? Unless the auditors are overlooking it or there is a common accounting process throughout the league to hide things from other owners. I’m all for anything that gets Snyder to sell or even have the team stripped from him. But I really think these other owners are so slow to move on this because they are worried about scrutiny coming back on them. Or maybe these things don’t even make a ripple throughout the league and only matter in the DMV. I don’t know. I just don’t understand how with all we know they are letting him stay in power, unless they fear for their own selves as well.

interesting though... other things they've come out and been vocally against the allegations, this one they got nothin to say about? hmm....
