Commanders Trade for QB Carson Wentz

Can he possibly be worse than losing 56-14 on Sunday Night Football? Even when Emmitt tries to make a joke as an analyst, he still fails.

Monday Night Massacre with former Philly QB facing the Eagles....

Carson will do many of the same dumb things Taylor does, but Carson Wentz hasn't stopped doing it since the time he was an Eagle up until now.

Have you looked up his stats? Specifically from last year?

Wentz
62.43563277

Heinicke
6534192015

Henicke made a lot more mistakes than Wentz last year. And I don’t think Wentz had a good year last year. He wasn’t my first choice or second or probably third choice. But he was still better than Heinicke and made a lot fewer mistakes.

the scary thing is Terry woulda fed his ass his lunch had Taylor been able to get the ball down field. He should be careful what he wishes for...

The first play on the Sunday night game, Terry beats him, Heinicke is late, and underthrows it for an INT. It should have been a TD.

Speaking of Terry, I think the team can help calm some of the hatred towards the Wentz trade if we learn very soon that he has been locked up for the foreseeable future in Washington.

Ron Rivera met with CBS last week at the Scouting Combine in an interview that I watched, and he made an interesting comment which peaked my interest. Basically, he was still convinced that while an elite QB makes everything easier in terms of winning, you can still get it done with an above average to good signal-caller, provided the pieces around him are really solid elsewhere throughout the roster. I know most don't agree with that, but he sounded pretty confident in saying that.

I've thought about it a bit further, and they probably see Wentz as the type of guy described above.

I can totally see a situation playing out where this team takes the best Wide Receiver still on the board in the first round (whether that is at pick 11 or a bit further down in a trade down scenario). You are eating Wentz' contract for '22, you gave up a couple thirds, you have to give this guy every tool you can to be successful right out of the gate and make it work.

Samuel and Brown still have to viewed as unknowns at this point. That said, if you surround Wentz with the likes of Gibson, McLaurin, Thomas, Samuel, Brown, and for instance a Wilson or Olave, that is a fairly decent crop of weapons to work with. Make each other better.

Here is the interview I referenced above...about the 4:47 mark.

Oh and we just made Indy #1 in available salary cap to boot!

Are we potentially prepared to go into 2023 with a completely bare cupboard at QB if Wentz in 2022 doesn't work out like they want it to (given the supposed ease with which they could get out of his deal)? Under that scenario, we could be staring at a situation where Ron is four years deep without an answer at the most critical position on the football field.

As much as anything else, the draft is about succession planning. I have to believe they are still going to try and add another QB to the room in April.

Would it be reckless if they don't?

If they like Willis I would like them to take him if he is still available when they pick.

Perfect situation. He needs at least one year of development and could be used as a wildcat weapon in the meantime.

I get why Trevon is loving it. He and Wentz have a wonderful connection that most receivers and QBs would dream of.

Argue about Wentz here.

So Wentz basically has alot of good plays in him, but a lot of frustrating and head-scratching stuff mixed in there too. Dare I say it, but with a career 44-40-1 record as a starter, does it suggest we are bringing Kirk Cousins back without actually bringing Kirk Cousins back?
