NFL Combine

Imagine him and Cosmi on the same side, they’d straight up terrorize. I know it will never happen but still

yeah...*sigh*

I saw him line up at RG a handful of times at the senior bowl, so i do wonder what his flexibility is there. I'm sure he knows that he likely wont make the same money if he moves inside, but yeah.. a guy can dream.

With what Matsko has been able to accomplish production-wise with this line, I personally have a hard tme believing they are going to invest in an interior lineman in the first few rounds - especially if they view Schweitzer as a replacement for Scherff. Now, if they prefer Schweitzer to be a "jack of all trades" so to speak, then who knows, maybe they do look at guards a bit earlier.

I agree

and to be perfectly honest, I think we need a mentality shift for a little while. Both Lines are 'set' in a sense that there's not a gaping hole on either one, and both are actually considered to be among the better units in the league.... D-line just needs to play to it's ability. I think it's time we get sexy in the 1st and 2nd rounds... and that means walking away with a QB and a playmaker. I think we're in desperate need of another X-factor like McLaurin. It can be WR / RB / TE, I don't really care... but we need it. THAT SAID, I wonder how much more dynamic our playmakers can be with top half of the league QB play. We've talked ad naseum about it, but it's a legit observation. Something came out on twitter yesterday with a lot of the analytics surrounding QBs. I promise i'm not trying to pile on Taylor, but at the end of the day, if that thread I posted about weapons shows anything, there were plays left on the field... and that was just the handful of games I looked at.

I said it on the pod, I HOPE Taylor understands that when he see's the film (I think he does) and I hope he dedicates himself addressing some of it... and that means going to Turner and giving him input about how HE thinks the offense should be run.

Which QB’s are standing out the most?

Willis didnt run, i believe he's going to do that at his pro-day. I don't think he needs to run, everyone knows he's the fastest QB in the draft so what does his actual time matter?

Ridder ran the fastest 40 time at a 4.52.

MOST of the QBs had no problems making the throws (that I saw) but it's passing drills with no pass rush and no defense. Willis did have what appeared to be the 'easiest' and most fluid deep ball, hit the WR in stride on the drills I watched. The arm talent is obvious.

I did hear that Howell missed a couple short throws and appeared to be out of sorts the rest of the day, like it was eating at him.

This is the biggest flaw with the Combine and any team pro days. For at least five or ten throws, have one DE rush the QB (but no tackling, pushing, touching, etc.) and see what they do with a bit of pressure - even if it is token pressure.

And have a corner or safety defend the receiver.

Seriously doubt Willis makes it past Houston, Carolina, & Atlanta. Throw in the gnats possibly throwing Jones in the trash and the skins will end up with the 3rd or 4th best QB option. No idea how well Willis reads defenses & such but that arm strength would make Turner’s pass happy ass giddy.

The dynamic changes drastically if the Bills brass (ex-panthers) throw RR a bone and sweet talks Trubisky into coming on board. If that ends up being the case I would like to see the 1st pick go to best wr available, and then take Strong with the 2nd.
