Thanks, boss. Two other QBs in this class who need work, but have a high ceiling potential is Corral and Strong. Keep an eye on Strong. He played injured much of last year.

We've seen some years where the QBs are rated very high and the draft class is given a glowing review, but they flame out a few years later. The class this year has potential, but we can't put them in a higher level of expectations for now. Would it surprise anyone if this class has some good prospects that shine within the next few years? I kind of doubt it, but like all the experts out there, we could be wrong - and I'm not an expert, just a low-level pundit.

Kevin Austin - WR - Notre Dame

Foloowed him with a 4.37

David Bell - WR - Purdue (this guy is one to watch on Drat Day)

Slow off the line - Ran a 4.64. Lok to see if he improves on his second attempt.

Stumbled out of the gate on his first attempt and stopped the rep.

4.55 on his first rep.

Deebo Samuel ran a 4.5+ (if i'm remembering correctly) and he's viewed as one of the top weapons in the NFL.


This is why I think Treylon Burks is still WR1 despite not posting a top 5 40 time....

That said, Speed is fun

This is what sets Tyreek Hill apart. It's not just straight line speed, it's change of direction and acceleration. There was a TD in the game vs Buffalo where Hill catches it on a crosser and simply outruns everyone for a TD. There's 1 guy who takes that catch to the house, and it's him.

I look at these speeds and I remember that Darrell Green ran a 4.24 40 at age 40. There are fast guys, then there is Darrel Green. In an era where guys are bigger, faster, and stronger, his speed still sticks out.

Yeah - it doesn't suck, does it? It just can't cover up where guys don't have those other skillsets. It's why McLaurin was so underdrafted, under appreciation of core WR skills.

Something to remember also to your point Boone... .2 of a second is almost immeasurable in regards to the human eye..

This second group of receivers tonight are knocking it out of the park with their 40 times.

10 guys so far at WR that are now under 4.40 seconds.

Now, can they run a route, catch, get dirty in the run game when required, and do they have a brain?

On a sidenote, I really enjoyed watching the TEs earlier today. Lots to like there that will probably be able to be had early on Day 3. I personally feel that TE might be a sneaky position that we can't necessarily overlook this draft season.

Burks, Pierce, and are on the bigger side as far as the more notable players.
