Random NFL Thoughts

Flacco looked less than thrilled to be there.

Oh I’m sure the mediots will do their best to vilify him. Media be like….

He's so full of himself. He quoted MLK to defend himself lying to his boss.

I'm not interested enough in Rodgers to listen. He's always been a self-centered diva, no matter how talented. I don't ever want to see him in Washington.

Titans beat the Rams
Broncos beat the Cowbums
Browns completely destroyed the Bengals

Hopkins missed yesterday?

Hell of a week to not stress over football and just enjoy it.

I think last nights game was one of the worst officiated games I’ve ever seen. I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I’ve always said I don’t believes refs are fixing the games, they are just incompetent. You could use last nights game as an example of how games are fixed if you wanted to. It was that bad. Everyone is talking about the bogus taunting call that extended a Steelers drive late. That was bad for sure.

But the Bears also lost a TD on a call for a low block which the lineman completely whiffed and didn’t touch the defender. Plus, they broke it down and showed how it wasn’t even against the rules. Then 2 plays later, Fields throws incomplete and is hit very late. I remember as a kid Dexter Manley getting called on hits just like that. That is how long it’s been a foul to take 3 steps after the QB throws the ball and then hit him. No flag. The Bears settle for a FG. There were a few other bad calls as well that were less consequential. But that was one of the worst officiated games I’ve ever seen.

It helps solidify my hatred for the Steelers and Tomlin.

I’d still take Tomlin over any of the other coaches for the Redskins during his tenure (other than Gibbs but I think everyone knows that).

He inherited an amazing team from Cowher and has gotten worse with all the talent he had. Yes, he has a super bowl win. But, he also played in the weakest division for most of his tenure. Plus, he's just a smug ass.

He’s never had a losing season in 15 years. Cowher had 3 in 15 years and also only won 1 Super Bowl. Cowher was 8-8 his last year. Tomlin went 10-6 his first year and then 12-4 the next and won the Super Bowl. I’d say he’s done a really good job and it far exceeds anything this team has done.

He may be smug, but that’s what it takes for some to be a good coach. And it’s worked for him. Belichick is as smug as they get and he’s the best in the game. I’d take him too. When you win, you can be as smug as you want. I hate John Harbaugh and love seeing that stupid Harbaugh look on his face after something doesn’t go their way. But the guy wins. Do what you want as a coach if you win.

He also was in the weakest division with one of the greatest DCs ever. Our team shouldn't be the bench mark for great coaches, either. You're comparing one of the worst to what you like. Of course it will be better.

You just compared the most smug people to prove smugness is ...good? Nah, I don't like him. Getting in the way of kickers, playing the race card constantly, crying about the refs....he doesn't have any real redeeming qualities no matter how low the bar is set.

I compare him to the Redskins because regardless of his faults, he is still better than what we have seen.

As for the smugness, I’m just saying that it works for some guys. Not every coach can be like Gibbs, Dungy, Landry, and be the nice guy coach. In fact, most can’t do it that way.

His comments on taunting today just helped prove my point. The guy who literally stood in the way of a returner is judging what is taunting.... especially when it isn't taunting!

Yeah, those are just self serving since they helped him win a game. Next week when his team gets called on it in a big situation, his tune will change.
