I fell victim of buying into the hype. I had a feeling that the defense would show a ranking regression due to the schedule, but I didn't expect it to be THIS bad.
That said, there is still a good amount of football left, and the defense has been playing A LOT better over the last couple weeks as far as the eyeball test is concerned. I know there were some statistical arguments against that, but when you have as many offensive drives get to the RedZone and you come away with 0 points, the onus on the defense gets to be borderline un fair.
To your point Chris, I don't know that the coaches were romanced. The moves they've made this draft and offseason don't scream "make a run." The Fitz move could be argued that way (I've made that argument myself), but it can easily be explained as "needing to have a capable QB on the field." I HOPE that's the case.... that Rivera and company know exactly what they have, and they expected a 'down' year because of that. That the hype around the team is exclusive to the folks that aren't on the payroll.
