Yeah, I think that was the final straw. All that has gone on with Haskins, it has never been just about his on field performance. There has always been more that we have seen and I believe things we have not seen. We don't know what the Redskins PR staff and coaches actually said to him about this and what he said to them. I do believe that Rivera and the staff were not happy about it. Whatever the reason, he clearly showed he's not ready to be a QB and deal with all the responsibilities that come with being a starting QB.

Now I seriously question that this is anything more than saving face... I personally think Haskins ducked it, but we likely never truly know.
 
Shouldn't you check at least? "Hey, coach. Do y'all need me to stick around for reporters or can I go?"

I know I check for permission before I do something that may be questionable.
 
I saw that last night. I feel like that was the team trying to take the high road and not trying to embarrass him any more than he already was.

I called this yesterday watching the game with my Panther fan brother. I did say the end of the year.
 
He gets to spend more time with his girlfriend and play video games. Be happy for him.

I had thought Haskins was gone post season, but after last nights game (sorry I couldn’t be in the chat!) I don’t think Rivera had a choice.

It’s one thing to hold on to a potential asset that may just help you win. We saw Haskins have these occasional streaks of heat where he strung some good play together. I guess it was possible he could have done that.

But this week Haskins proved to be more distraction than saviour. He pulled unwanted media attention this week, when he should have been preparing for this weeks game. We know Rivera wants ‘team-first’ character in his players and Haskins was not thinking Team-first at all.

plus Haskins had (or had) allies on the team in Chase and Terry who no doubt were being dragged into this to a degree (albeit small) to give support when their focus should have been totally on the Panthers.

Rivera cannot afford that distraction leading into a ‘loser goes home’ game this coming weekend. Releasing Haskins now gives the team a week without added distraction to prep for the game. It was a decision made easier when you could blatantly see that they were no worse off with Heineke (and maybe even better off!).

Mir would not surprise me to see a much more focused team take the field Sunday and start fast for the first time this year. Maybe even score on the opening drive...

Anything he said then was a carefully crafted image made by his highly experienced PR father, who apparently was in the music industry. However, daddy wouldn't play ball with a particular interviewer and thus left on the record of how that interview went off the rails.

Might have always been there that he had no love of football but daddy knew that they had to play the game until the NFL to make a pretty return on investment.
 
Haskins was a $3 bill from the start.

He came in with expectations that should have been tamped down by Urban Meyer if Meyer actually was looking after his former player.

The NFL doesn't use colored flash cards to call plays in a one read attack so no coach or mentor (Shawn Springs) should have had him believing he was going to be successful from Day 1 like others who grew up in more mature schemes.

But Haskins said all the right things at the time only to fail to take the necessary actions to close the circle.

Meanwhile he was off developing his social media profile and looking for ad gigs.

Or they saw enough from Heinicke to believe he brings more to the table than Haskins.

I see a lot of you all wondering what sort of compensation may or may not have materialized under different circumstances, and I say look at what was lost when Haskins was drafted.

The trade up for Sweat could have been avoided. Knowing what we know now, they could have traded down, still gotten Sweat, picked up another draft pick, and had that 2nd round pick.

You want to talk about a 6th or 7th round pick, let's talk about the real compensation that was lost.

I know, I know...some of you will say that we could never have known Haskins would end up here...well, I think some of us did. In fact, I think wagers were willing to be made he would not be on the roster in DC in his 3rd NFL season. I know someone who should be hired as an AGM in the NFL! If for nothing else to tell them to stay the f*** away from big stat QB's who play in conferences that don't play defense in college.
 
Absolutely agree.

We could have taken Sweat at #15 and kept our #2 pick for an OT to replace Trent.

But that’s Snyder. He did much the same in 2012 when we traded an unconscionable number of picks to move up a few spots to take Griffin.

Snyder has no ability to judge personnel or even hire the right C-Suite people for the team.

Rivera only came here because of Joe Gibbs vouched for the fact he wouldn’t be interfered with.

Snyder has to live with that.
 
Haskins is the power of networking. I don't think it's common that football player befriends the son of an owner. Snyder might have some wish fulfillment fantasies that he's up close in having a franchise QB he himself propped up to win him a championship.
