Game Week - 2020 Week 16 - Washington vs Carolina Panthers - TV Map Included (WED) - Game Flexed to 4:05

Steven Montez activated from the P.S. again...

With Heinicke already being on the active roster, Smith or Haskins likely inactive tomorrow..

I think that means Smith is active. Why would they need 3 QBs when they have rolled with 2 all year unless they are worried about 1 of them being injured? The only one to worry about is Smith. So I think this means Smith is active and will start, but they are worried about re-injury and being left with just 1 health QB. So they will have a backup ready if Smith has to get pulled from the game. My thinking is this means Haskins will be inactive, but I could be wrong. It would be any of the four. But that's what I read into this.

I'm pretty sure we had 3 active last week

Alex looked very gimpy in the footage I saw (not sure if it was Friday or Saturday). He didn't appear to be able to push off with that foot which is exactly what was causing him so many problems in the 49ers game. I don't think he plays. If you can't get velocity on passes you're just a liability out there.

That was the wrong tweet... I fixed it. Alex is not expected to play if I'm not mistaken

I just have the feeling the calf issue is more serious than they are letting on and that we won't see Smith again in 2020. I hope I'm wrong as my excitement level for a playoff appearance and potential run is greatly diminished if we're relying on Haskins under center.

I'm starting to wonder if we see him in pads ever again.

I feel bad for Alex.

That said, today's success will be determined by the run game. Gibson being active and hopefully effective is a bigger story for the success of the team today.

Turner needs to commit to a ball control attack today, keeping things as simple as possible for today's starting QB.

The offensive line needs to have their game of the year run blocking.

Today needs to resemble old school Redskins football for us to win.

I think they need to ease Gibson back in. McKissic has shown that can be a reliable rusher. I'd give him about half the carries and split the rest between Gibson and Barber. Gotta balance the need to win this crucial game with ensuring if we do get to the playoffs, we have our best offensive weapon available.

Well, let's hope it's not another 55 passing play day again, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Turner loves to pass and I think we're going to see Haskins throwing out of shotgun a lot today. One of my keys to a win is Haskins using his legs and decisively taking off on the run (vs. running and then opting to throw which does not appear on my list of Dwayne Haskins top 10 skills). Dwayne has a better motor than he is given credit for as we saw last week. He can hurt teams and keep drives going by taking off when the rushing lane is there. I want to see a lot of that today.

Absolutely Boone.

I am not adverse to seeing JD split time with Gibson provided we go run heavy.

I get that Rivera owes it to the other 50 odd guys on the roster to have Dewayne available to play in the event that Alex can't go. You can't just throw a Montez out there and have all their hard work potentially washed down the drain this year.

At the same time, we owe it to the rest of the roster to not have a knucklehead like Haskins botch the game with subpar play either. He needs to be insulated and we are going to have to earn it with the guys that got us here such as Gibson and McKissic offensively.

Someone predicted on Twitter that they are going to blanket/double team Logan. I think that's a strong possibility. If they do, Haskins needs to get the ball to guys like Cam Sims and AGG. One of the 2nd tier WRs needs to step up and take advantage of their opportunities today. If there is going to be a surprise difference maker on offense today, it may be Cam, Stephen Sims, or AGG.

Coaches around the league love the passing game. The games the last 2 days, teams built on the run game passed way too much and lost. The Vikings and the Raiders both have been led by the run, yet the coaches were passing like crazy and both lost. I don’t know if it’s their ego or what. But I have a feeling we as we the same from Turner today. He will throw way more than he should.

I'll have a lot more hope that that doesn't occur if we can get off to a good start and not fall behind early as we seem determined to do every week. If the WFT can be the team that gets off to an early 10-0 lead, then we can play smashmouth burn the clock ball with some play action mixed in.
