Looks like we're not a national game...

****** Game has been flexed to 4:05pm ******

Lets talk it up!

This thread is a bit early but with what happened yesterday there are some additional storylines and plenty to talk about.

1. With a Washington victory and a NYG Loss (they play the Ravens), Washington would be NFC East Champions
2. Will it be Alex or Dwayne?
3. Scott Turner and his play calling, what do you want to see.

To me this one is all about who actually plays for us. If it's Alex, and we have either a mostly-healthy A. Gibson, and/or Lamar Miller, JDM ... I like our chances. A lot.

If it's some combo of Dwayne and iffy RB depth ... it's a toss-up. Carolina will come in loose and with nothing to lose and throw everything they have against the wall.

I tend to agree with Om, but I had not thought of Lamar Miller being there. He is already an improvement over Patrick Barber.

I want to add that we need our LB corps back together. if we can do that, we can stop the run better. Payne seems to have flashes but nothing consistent enough.

It is all right in front of us. If we cannot beat the Panthers at home, we quite frankly do not deserve to be in the playoffs. A sign of a growing team is taking the bull by the horns so to speak and we have that opportunity Sunday.

Ultimately, I think we need our secondary to play even better than we did vs. Seattle because if the Panthers beat us, it is going to be with the likes of Moore, Samuel, and Anderson.

Carolina was pretty stingy defensively in the second half vs. Green Bay. They have some play makers on that side of the ball to account for.

I am in the mood for a ball control, establish the run, and smash them in the mouth type of day on Sunday. Don't pin the game on your QB to win it and I think we can be fine.

I have harped on this for years....

Please, Scot Turner for the love of God, win 1st down!

We do not have the luxury of having an elite QB in our back pocket that can get us out of bad down and distance routinely throughout a game.

As we have often seen this season and in the past, failed first downs is usually 3 and Way.

Panthers play a ton of zone coverage, if we have Alex back it'll suit the short passing game well, if we gotta go with Haskins again I'm not sure he won't come out pressing too hard early on before getting more touch on his passes.

They're also bottom half of the league in Passing AND Rush defense (according to yards). That's kind of hard to do, since most bad rush defenses appear 'better' against the pass because the opposing team usually can run at will. We need to come out and run the ball well. I'm actually kind of intrigued with Miller. He's going to be 'fresh' but fear the speed of the game to begin with. He may take a few series to get back into that quick thinking that comes with good vision. I hope we don't just hand him the ball 3 times and give up, letting Barber become a wrecking ball on 1st and 10 instead of 2nd and 3.

This is an emotional game for Rivera. He got them to a Super Bowl and the MFers fired him!

I don’t care where this game falls - Rivera is gonna want to crush them. Add on that a win almost assured we are a playoff team while his former employers watch on TV?

Thinking there’s some motivation here. And Scott Turner will be primed as well.

Nice that we’re actually not on the receiving end of a revenge game!

Aside from happy feet Kyle Allen and Ron Rivera, the Panthers have a history of owning the Redskins Football Team.

I expect that to continue, since checkdown Teddy is unlikely to make that back breaking mistake that gives us free points to score. It will be interesting to see if Teddy is an Alex Smith clone in terms of playstyle.

Chinn can ball and Dwayne is more than willing to serve up pigskins on a silver platter.

Scott Turner suffers from Christian McCaffrey withdrawal syndrome. He's not as good as his dad in using what he actually has, who could work with Stephen Davis just as well he could work with LaDanian Tomlinson.

McKissic is one ding from being rendered useless and Peyton Barber cannot be a every down back. But Barber has "hands", and that's why little Turner reeled him in.

Yeah, but this aint those teams. Our defense just kept Wilson at barely 100 yards, won 4 games in a row, and has one of the best defenses in the league.

The ghost of Redskins past aint here no mo.

My recommendation is, get up out of Scott Turner's business a bit. He's literally had less than a season of experience as a true OC. I think he could get better :)

I agree,

but at times it aint been pretty. If we're going to be critical of Haskins and other aspects of the offense, only fair to look at the play calling and system in regard to the output. If I'm gonna be critical of Haskins for an INT, I'm also going to be critical of Turner for not utilizing the players to the best of their abilities (according to my own opinion of course).

Criticism is cool, writing him off as an OC after a single season - not so much.

oh absolutely.

He's also navigated the waters with a hodge podge offensive line, minimal playmakers on offense, and now 3 different starting quarterbacks. A team that was supposed to be thankful if they pushed to win 5 games... The offense is a hell of a lot closer to good than it has been in a while and it ain't because we're gushing with talent... The system CAN work.

Do the Giants play at 1 pm? In a way that would be ideal if we knew going into our contest what could potentially be at stake. Especially if New York lost there could be an extra sense of hunger on our side...not that we should need any extra motivation anyways, but anything helps.

I hate 4 o clock starts, means I have to start drinking at 1p instead of 8a
