Gameday - 2020 Week 15 - Washington vs Seattle Seahawks - TV Map Included - Weather Updated

All you have to do is listen to the media, podcasts and read around on the net Boone.
It's all there.

The way this fanbase acts, Haskins might as well do three kneel downs and the team punt than risk him dropping back.

Weurffel and Matthews didn't get this kind of criticism and they were awful....

It's absolutely ridiculous.

I think Haskins has shown he's a far better runner than anyone thought he was coming out of OSU. That's not his issue - it's his indecision (at times) and poor decisions (at times). I'll say it again. How many times have you seen him just throw the ball away when the play is not there? He simply won't do it - even though it's QBing 101 to do so, and he's had Alex Smith demonstrating that for him repeatedly. That drives me crazy, as instead of throwing it away, he'll jump up and try to make some circus throw, do that sidearmed thing, or worst of all, stand there like a statue until he's sacked. I actually think he does have the ability to rush with the ball effectively and that is the least of his problems.

Over the last few weeks we've all watched the smart vet Qb take sacks(while in fg range) when he could've thrown the ball away.
QB 101 escapes vets too at times. So if you're gonna kill Haskins for it, Alex deserves his medicine too.

It feels like you're arguing with people who aren't in this conversation, DP ... I don't think I've seen a single BGO poster rag-doll Haskins like you keep bringing up. What I have seen, and participated in, are what seem like pretty even-handed and objective assessments of the kid's game at this point.

Kinda interested in your objective take on him. What say you?

I’m not ‘killing him’ - I’m just being honest about his obvious deficits right now. Doesn’t mean he can’t address them, but I don’t see it happening. I mean, his often poor footwork (which you know has been pointed out to him by coaches repeatedly) is as bad today as it was the first time we saw him.

I think the comparison to Alex is off base since he literally cannot take off and use his legs. He still will throw it away when he is able to when the play is not there. When I see Dwayne start to do that I’ll shut up about it. And you’re right - all QBs have occasional lapses with poor mechanics or decision-making. Haskins struggles consistently with them.

The thing with Haskins that is supremely frustrating is Alex nearly lost a leg and is out there playing with 1/4 of a leg that has parts donated from the other leg... and the guy... keeps... coming... after it. Why can't Haskins see that as motivation to get his mess right?

Yeah and almost breaking down in tears talking about how getting benched is the most adversity he's ever faced.. while his HC is a cancer survivor, Alex is dealing with what he's dealing with, the OWNER's wife a cancer survivor, a pandemic... it's just not a positive testament to his attitude. He is young and immature, I get that....

He deserved a Razzie for that performance.

If the worst adversity is that, consider yourself blessed.

and I have to say, I have been a MAJOR supporter of giving Haskins this whole season, because I did not want to go into this offseason wondering at QB. I just wanted to KNOW one way or another... I have also rooted hard for him to be successful, not because of who he is, but because Haskins becoming an elite QB would mean Washington is winning..

That was my mindset coming into this season. I was optimistic that he’d continue to improve but just didn’t see it for the first stretch of the season. I do think it’s fair to say he got the quick hook. Gibbs did exactly the same thing with Patrick Ramsey. Maybe there was more film on Ramsey but otherwise same exact thing.

I think good coaches can assess a guy and ascertain if they are going to trust that QB under center at the most important position pretty quickly. Are they always right? Maybe not. But given their jobs largely rise or fall on whether they get the QB position right, I think they should have wide latitude when it comes to decisions about who their QB is going to be.

Hard to argue SO.

A little throwback for you... :D

As critical as I have been about Cousins and the big game, he got it done in this one... Granted he didn't light it on fire for the first 58:30 of the game, but we'll take it.
