Wishful thinking guys.

If reports are true, and there is no reason to believe they're not, The Cancer was willing to go to Minny and play out his contract, there, without a new deal, thereby setting up his chance to shine, and then get a big money contract afterwards. We nixed that, because all they were offering was a single, 3rd day pick. Yesterday, Minny sweetened the deal. Both teams were ready to pull the trigger. Then The Cancer nixed it because he said he would no longer agree to play for Minny under the terms they had previously agreed to. (His current contract)

So, in what universe would he now all of a sudden decide he's gonna play his butt off, for us, under the existing contract, when he wouldn't do it after being moved to another team, which was his wish. It defies logic.

We cannot force him to play. If he reports, he can, and I believe will, feign injury, and not play. We have to pay him, to keep him. If not, wouldn't we have to work out an injury settlement, and then release him? Which is what he wants.

The only way to get anything close to a win, is for us to take the best offer, and ship him out.

And while I want him gone yesterday, we can certainly wait until the day before camp opens.

In the time it took you to type that he was traded to SF.
 
So, does a #5 and a #3 equal a #2?

It’s pretty close, perhaps a bit short but respectable given the tantrums Williams has thrown.

I just hope Kyle is intent upon paying him on a new deal in 2021 or he will see how looney tunes this guy can be.

And then boom!

We take a LT right away in Round 4.

This guy evidently needs Ron’s tough love 😘

I said from the beginning, a 3rd and a 4th or a 3rd and a 5th was fair compensation. Very happy we got it. And kudos to the Skins for not caving and waiting until they got reasonable capital in return.

The report you posted said Charles was undersized for LT.

The LSU roster shows him at 6’4 and 316.

That’s big enough in the league I follow 😛
 
Is it wrong to hope SanFran doesn’t win anything meaningful for the next 2-4 years?

I didn't say he was a shrimp. But that's not *ideal* LT size in today's NFL. In 2018, average OL size overall was 6'5", 314 lbs.

Not a big deal, but he is at best average, probably 'smallish' by 2020 standards.

The CBA is one reason the 49ers were willing to trade for Trent.

Under the old system one more strike and he would be out for a year and that’s $12.5M down the crapper.

I still can’t understand how Trent could be so stupid and get caught multiple times on the tests.

Smoot said recently that the veteran players all knew the schedules and how to avoid being caught.
 
You guys should know by now... Trent does what Trent wants.

Williams is almost 32 and hasn’t played in more than a year.

For a guy that plays 10-11 games a year I think that long layoff could lead to some early injury issues.

It’s not a slam dunk for SF.

This is not the Trent Williams of 2016 they are getting.

Age and mileage.
