Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions, 2020

If it is a first: trade it for a second and whatever else we can get.

Tampa has the 14th pick. Do we go a top tier talent or restock with quality talent?

What if it's a late first and Tua is still available?

He’s about a year late with that prediction.

While i'm not holding my breath... there is a path that it could happen.

There are a handful of teams that are ready to (or making it appear they THINK they're ready to) win within the next 3 years... presumably the window of Trent's ability to play at a high level, that have room for his services.

1. Miami
2. Tampa Bay
3. Cleveland
4. Seattle (sleeper here)
5. Minnesota

Cleveland has no. 10 overall, not likely they give that up for him so take them out of this, though I think they're a player for a later pick... they have 2 3rd rounders.

Tampa Bay and Cleveland likely don't trade a 1st for Trent straight up, but I think TB NEEDs to address tackle, so they're a player.

IF Miami wants a QB at 5, it's highly unlikely that either of the top 2 Tackles reach Cleveland at 10 with the Giants likely taking one at 4. That would mean Cleveland at 10, Tampa Bay at 14, Miami at 18 and 26, Minnesota at 22 and 25, and Seattle at 27 likely are having to 'settle' for a player that potentially can't provide what Trent does over the next 2 seasons.

I don't know that it's likely, I'd actually put it at about 5% that Miami, Seattle, or Minn gets excited and gives up a pick in the late 1st, but I don't think it's impossible.

I will be delaying today's mock until late afternoon or early evening. Trade talk calmed down a bit, but that is just the Redskins taking total control of the situation. Let's see what happens, if anything, in the next few hours.

I think this means they're the ones making the calls now... not the agent. I don't think this means the trade is dead, just that they're not letting Trent and his agent be the ones to negotiate the terms and present them back to the team. In fact i think this speeds the process up.

Pretty sure that is exactly what it means. That is why I am delaying the mock by a few hours.

If the Redskins get a first or second round pick (or say, a pair of 3's) - a lot of folks who've claimed the Skins have mishandled and bungled this, predicting the best we'd get was a 4th round pick or worse, are going to be very quiet :)
