Coronavirus - COVID19

Yeah, I definitely want to keep this as non political party as possible. But, the thought of the President of this country testing positive is scary. That means most likely he gets it, the VP gets it, his cabinet gets it, etc.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist; but isn't that a perfect way to topple a country?

Because, in reality, Schumer and Pelosi are exposed too. That is going to be pretty much everyone who may even have the knowledge or ability to run the country.

THAT is completely non-political. I mean position of power, not people.
That's a damn scary thought, because if something like that were to happen, there would be very little anybody could do to prevent a large portion of the population from completely losing it.

Here is an article I thought was pretty solid in terms of thinking things through with real numbers and facts as we know them.

Corona Virus: The Hammer and The Dance

Sorry Neo - not personal bubba. I don't believe it for a second. The article itself is poorly written. It throws conclusions at the reader with no argument. I have been tracking the data also and there are interesting differences and causal factors from country to country. And, while the data points are anectodal (i.e., limited) I have been in the hospotal system the last week and have not seen the ERs overwhelmed. There's something else going on here. Corona-virus is legit. But some of the responses and much of the media/political actions don't add up. We'll see as this unfolds.

I get it Al. Truly.

But there is a certain factor of "place" involved in this. The medical resources in Southern Italy aren't overwhelmed either. In Northern Italy they have been under water for 3 weeks and making choices about who lives and who dies that whole time.

My area of the country is seeing an uptick in cases (over 100 in Dallas county now, over 50 in Tarrant). We aren't overwhelmed by any means . . . right now. Five days ago we had 10 cases or so in Dallas county and Zero in Tarrant. Next weekend we could be looking 5x the number of cases we have today.

Washington State and NY are seeing something none of the rest of us are at this point. And if you live in a "small town" in the Great Plains, you might not have a case within a couple hundred miles of where you are.

Again, I am not panicked but I don't believe any of us should be comfortable. It was just 3 months ago that none of us had ever heard of COVID-19 and China had yet to report the first official case.

Neo...not questioning that there is reason for concern and that we are behind the oower curve in understanding the scale. I just believe that there are other things going on as well and suspect that this virus is being used, maybe manipulated for other agendas. We may never know. Just my instincts. Some things just don't pass the smell test.

As ever, nothing but the best for you and your family. Stay safe. I am hearing (and others I know) that the worst may pass in 2-3 weeks.

Dallas County just issued a shelter-at-home order effective tomorrow night at 11:59pm.

This post sounds like a conspiracy theory. By rule, I can't take any of it seriously. You're hearing this from where exactly? Not that it matters, nobody on this planet knows what this will look like in 2-3 days, let alone 2-3 weeks.

I didn't say conspiracy. I said manipulated. I also said we will see.

In the event, thankfully and hopefully, life goes on!

We’re not going let this thread go into political conjecture - for the 2nd time.

One thing we should all keep in mind. Everyone - almost everywhere - shares our concerns, pain, and worry during the present time. Maybe something like this can bring folks together just a bit and let us set aside petty differences. One can dream...

I've been seeing these celebrities posting themselves singing "Imagine" and "we're in this together" and it just makes me laugh. They can't be out of the spotlight for 2 seconds without trying to push themselves back in to it.

Bloomberg makes fun of farming and belittles farmers, but they are the most self sufficient people I know. If you are in the country you are most like on well, septic, and have a generator. you grow your own food, and have the ability to hunt for it if needed.

So tired of every time I log on to Instagram there is some random ass celeb telling me their opinion on things. I know, I know. Turn it off and ignore it. But, it is everywhere.

I generally agree. That video was made in Sept 2019 though :) It's just getting shared for obvious reasons.

I was talking about what I posted.

bunch of govt controlling propaganda. like you said, you see nothing in hospitals.
everyones tv screen is a pretend window to the world.

gotcha. I was talking about that. I've loved that song since I was a kid. Any mention of the word "Fanny" would get a nice laugh from me.

Unable to tip toe this mine field, I'll just say, I'm to the right of Boone.

I would keep in mind that if you are not seeing an explosion of cases (or even a few) in your area - that is the natural result of this 15 day pause and social distancing. That’s the ‘flattening of the curve’ these experts have been striving for. I would not be fooled into believing that a) it won’t hit your location, or b) that when it does that it won’t be severe. I think both of those are inevitable eventualities.

Ohio is going to stay at home for the whole state as of tonight midnight. I'm riding the fence on how I feel about this one. I do like the fact that our Governor is being proactive and erring on the side of caution, what I don't like, nor understand is the crazy runs on grocery stores etc. Folks those places aren't closing, there is NO reason for shelves to be bare!

As a fun aside...we got 3 inches of rain in less than 12 hours the other night and my frggin sump pump died in the middle of it. I'm sitting here in my home office basement after I had to gut it. Luckily I got it all out before mold set in. but man what a nightmare, my home office/entertainment room and bike/workshop are on this floor. Talk about hell getting it cleared out! Going to buy paint and other supplies to get ready fro the rebuild today. I guess the upside is it will give me something to do!

that rainstorm was pretty crazy. I am a big fan of DeWine closing the state, but my stupid neighbors all think it is a reason to go outside and let their kids play together.

I know it's a little late for this, but I did basement waterproofing for a year, and we always suggested a backup pump to go with the regular one. We'd just dig the pump well a little bit bigger to accommodate 2 pumps. People always thought we were trying to upset, but...
