What criteria or statistics exactly (or even vaguely), are they waiting to happen, before the restrictive measures are eventually removed ?

This peaked my curiosity, so I tried to find some info on a quarantine in a North Carolina prison where 20 inmates died from a mystery virus. I'd think that would be a major story, so I wanted to read about it.

I could not find anything, anywhere.

I'm trying to read up on it. It's an interesting story. The kind I would think would have been in the news, I mean 20 inmates die in one month from a mystery virus? That's newsworthy and something I'd like to read more about.

What prison? That might make it easier for me to find the story.

I don't know...he is seemingly trying to tie it in with the China Virus, by mentioning the mystery of it. So I was going to do a little research to see if he is on to something, plus it is truly compelling that 20 inmates died in a very short timespan at one prison, some being treated at one of the most prestigious medical centers on earth, and not a single peep about it in the news.

My interest was piqued so I am trying to find more on the story. But I can take it to PM or another thread if you like.

our local community started a Facebook page for supporting the small restaurants in town. all of them are providing delivery so we all share what we get, what we see being offered, and then tip the drivers VERY well.

it may not be much, but it may stop them from going under.

A section of Cleveland is "forgiving" people for this months rent. His reasoning "We have it well off enough to own the buildings, we dont need to put that burden on the people living there"

Sometimes...just sometimes...humanity wins.

You're right.
This is going to ruin small businesses all over the country. Literally put them out of business.
And yea, I get that human lives are more important than businesses, but you have to objectively measure the true threat/risk.
I have not seen any evidence that the threat justifies the shutdowns.

I agree in the sense that a multi-disciplinary approach should be adopted.

Philadelphia is only issuing tickets for all "non-violent" crimes....stuff like car theft, burglary, etc., during this melt-up. How, well, Philly-like!!

I think it's the other way around.
Rather than "only" non-violent crimes, it appears they're avoiding non-violent crimes. It makes more sense that way, too.

We had our kids high school teachers call us yesterday and ask about internet and printer access. As of now they’re looking at possible online learning to finish out the year. they did assure us seniors get diplomas. Good chance they aren’t walking to get them though.

I feel like there's a miscommunication here.
"suspension of non-violent arrests" means they temporarily will not arrest or charge people if what they are committing is non-violent.
That is basically the opposite of "only" arresting for non-violence.

In a restaurant near where we live just had a patron tip the server 1000 bucks and wrote a not to tell them thank you...they understand how tough it is going to get for them.

I had a good friend discuss with her son the fact that he will not walk across the stage for graduation.

She put it into perspective for her 18 year old son by telling him about 17 year olds who lost their life in fighting Viet Nam, the 14 year old boy who lost his father and had to quit school to go to work to help support the family.

He's a good kid, so I am fairly certain he understood how reletive things are.

I ordered pizza last night. Trying to keep some business moving. (Don't worry. Everyone involved was super-careful. Lots of knowing glances and not touching hands and whatnot.)

Usually I tip $5. I tipped the delivery guy $10, figuring a little extra would help, but I didn't think much of it. He was SO thankful. "That tip REALLY helps. Thanks a LOT."

I felt horrible. Next time I'm tipping like $30.
