my son had sectionals today to qualify for districts. not only did he qualify, he won it!

I was not a real wrestler growing up. i did it because that is what you did as a kid, but i was not truly interested.

but, this kid. he is a real wrestler. He watches you, he sizes you up, and then he presses you until you cant handle it. he is good to the point that, as a rookie, the head of the entire school has taken a liking to him and works with him.

Proud fucking dad moment here.

Have you seen the movie about that amazing team, 'Miracle' with Kurt Russell playing Herb Brooks? Worth a watch.

Not many better things in life than watching your kids excel at things they decide they are passionate about. Awesome.

Vanessa Bryant speaking today had me crying like a freaking baby. I can't imagine her pain and having to deal with it in the spotlight.

I was released from prison in March of 2019. I moved back to Virginia in May. Finally got a job to take a chance on a felon in August. At my interview, when the GM asked me why she should give me a chance, I told her it would be the greatest hire she ever made.

In October, November, and December I won employee of the month, and at the end of December was named an all-star (employee of the quarter.)

Last month I was promoted, and today I was promoted again and informed that I will be certified as a trainer next week, and promoted to kitchen manager and given a nice raise.

Today, the woman who hired me thanked me for my hard word, the big boss from California gave me a special pin and congratulated me for all I've accomplished, then my boss made my day when she told me that I was indeed the best hire she's ever made in 14 years.

It feels great to work for people who not only appreciate hard work and reward it, but who take the time to acknowledge it. I could've used my felon status as a crutch like a lot of people do, but I'm not one for excuses. I've always worked for everything I have. I've come a very long way in a very short time, and it goes to show that if you go above and beyond, it absolutely pays off.

Congrats - that's awesome. Takes courage to be open about personal trials. You deserve some success and happiness since going through what you've experienced. Good for you

Every now and then I'll look at one of my children and wonder how on earth a jerk like me ever produced such beautiful kids.

My 7 year old walked down the steps today, I looked over and was reminded, so I grabbed the camera and put him in position to do a 5 minute photo shoot.

He's so beautiful!

This is a messed up situation.
Why don't these companies face legal action for what they're doing ?

They have a really in depth docuseries on food (I can't remember if it's Netflix or Hulu) and they had an episode talking about the worldwide honey fraud. It was insane. They even mentioned that certain countries are banned from exporting honey because they've been caught exposing bees to certain medications and antibiotics that are then transferred into the honey and lethal to humans. Then these crooked countries get around the export bans by paying off other countries to rebrand their honey and try to skirt the system.

There is actually some huge and heavily funded worldwide honey council that heavily tests and expects honey all over the world, and the depth they go into is unreal. They are a nonprofit organization, and they said they recommend nobody buying commercial honey, to only buy local from certified producers.

Anything labeled honey sauce (McDonald's), honey syrup, honey topping, honey flavored, etc. is fake. I buy all my honey local, I always have since my great grandfather produced his own and told me years ago how crooked the industry was and told me to always buy local certified honey.
Edit: Rotten on Netflix is the series I was talking about.

I've seen companies prosecuted for far, far less offenses than this.
I've seen multi-million dollar class action lawsuits over semantics on food labels.
So how do companies get away with something so blatantly egregious as this, without facing legal action ?

Same thing happening with honey, is happening with Olive Oil.
Your Olive is likely Canola Oil, mostly.
And your Honey is likely Corn Syrup, mostly.

It's crazy to learn how out of hand it's gotten. You literally have to do research before buying food if you want the legit thing you're trying to buy, it's crazy.

I lucked out with having Sicilian family and a beekeeper grandfather. I learned all about olive oil and honey very young, and the criminal element to both is unreal. Most commercial olive oil is a blend that like you said isn't even always actually olive oil. And honey has a lot of corn syrup issues.

I buy only locally produced honey that's been certified, and only olive oil from Italy or Spain that's been certified as well. First press seems to have the highest rate of legitimacy by far. You pay heavily for both to get them legit though.

Orange juice is another problem product. If half the people that drink OJ realized how non OJ their juice is, they probably wouldn't drink it. A lot of it is watered down concentrate from Brazil. Tropicana is notorious for this. I love OJ, but if it isn't fresh squeezed from Florida, I want nothing to do with it. I'd rather pay $6 a carton for the best in the world than pay half the price for twice the amount for Brazilian or Californian concentrate, or the even worse juice "drink."

bought my son a Daisy BB gun and set up cans for him in the backyard. Kid is already figuring out open sights and hitting cans from a good 12'.

Hell yeah we had a lot of fun with pellet rifles way back in the day, good memories.

There is ONLY one thing I regret not doing while living in Vegas for 9 years. Completely regret not going to see 5 Finger Death Punch. Pretty sure it's physically impossible not to like them after seeing the props they give out to all the services.

You may notice that the site is crazy fast on your phone and portable devices as of last night. We made some server changes that have made a huge difference. Enjoy :)
