I've already addressed that argument. I heard the same shit when Philly gave up Desean Jackson. What a disaster that's been. Belichick is a great coach, but he's not infallible. Sometimes players need a fresh start. If it's about the concussions, all that means is it's less likely he can overcome that challenge. But it's not impossible.
 
Hope this works out and I'm not optimistic nor pessimistic. Just gonna patiently observe how it plays out. I wanted the Skins to get a new center and I got my wish. Just not how I thought...

No. It's not. We have quite a bit of talent at RB. Whether we are seriously committed to the running game is a valid question. But another question would be if maybe Gruden and Company know what they are doing coming off an NFC East championship fueled, not by a dominant rushing attack, but by one of the most potent passing attacks in the league?

You don't know this is about the concussions. You think you do - but you don't :) If it was about the concussion history, why didn't they release him when the last concussion occurred (that was in practice on July 20th, over a month ago)? Instead, they make a sudden move after a closed practice. I think it's just as likely he lost his temper, went off on a coach, or did something else deemed 'the last straw' and that was that.

Yeah, along with the concussions. But there are countless examples of guys moving from one team to another and looking like different human beings. Jackson himself is even an example of that - he was a major problem child in Philly, but has been quiet as a mouse in DC. It happens.

NE trash heap:

Logan Mankins...went to pro-bowl after he left.
Vince Wolfork...started all 16 games for the Dvision winning Texans.
Darrell Revis...remains one of the top CB's in the league for the Jets.
Chandler Jones...has not played a season since leaving the Jets, but he was part of their trash heap...I'd love to have him here.
Benjarvis Green Ellis...the year after leaving NE he rushed for over 1000 yards in Jay Gruden's offense for the Bengals
Deion Branch left NE to have 4 successful season in Seattle, then went back to NE.


There is a list of players I would like to have or have had on our roster at any given time. That's NE's trash heap.

I'm cool with the deal, can't fault McLuvs for always acquiring players when and where ever. However, if it's true about we're such a step down in his opinion that retirement is the only option then piss on him. Id feel the exact same way whether he's a udfa or 1st rounder.

Needs to add a few lb's tho

Well, for my two cents, if I understand what I'm reading, we gave up a conditional pick for a possible player for the oline who may or may not work out. If he doesn't, we lose nothing. If he does, we don't lose much. Not sure of the real issue here to be honest. I understand the concern over concussions and personality issues.. the personality issues COULD change in a new atmosphere (seen it before) and the concussion issue will play out. Win-Win situation for us in my calculations. No play - no pick lost. Works out - a pick deep in the draft lost. Not really concerned here. But maybe I'm making it too simple.
 
This is a good move, no-brainer really. If the guy turns out to have a bad attitude or gets another concussion, the Skin can move on with no loss. If he turns out to be decent and stays healthy, he's worth a 7 even if he isn't a starter.

People forget that the Skins oline looked pretty good early in the season last year before Lauvao went out. Stork can play center or RT, so he adds a lot of depth to the line, even at LG, where Lichtenstiger can play if Lauvao goes down again.

I'd throw Wes Welker on that list. Apparently not quite as washed up as Hoodie thought.

Guys, I think it's obvious now that we have a troll playing us. It's been consistently occurring, and likely being laughed about in other boards somewhere. Even the handle leads that way. I'm going to stop feeding it, hope you all choose to do the same.
 
My tuppenth worth...

No risk in it, as has been said if it doesn't work out we lose nothing.

He has pedigree (as Boone helpfully provided) and can play. I don't see any disadvantages about giving him a shot.

If he has a bad attitude... well so be it. I'd have said in the past we weren't the kind of team that could cope with that. But I think or locker room is stronger now, and less focused on drama. If we'd have been bringing him aboard during the ShannaClan and RGIII circus then maybe I'd have had some reservations... but now I think we'll be ok.

And as far as NE's Trash heap... old saying... one mans Trash is another mans Treasure. NE are perenial Superbowl contenders. Their baseline talent is probably just higher than ours (disclaimer: I don't study the Pat's hard so don't really know!), they likely have reserves who are on a par or better than our starters, while some of our 2nd stringers wouldn't make their team at all. He may be a cast off from their team, but that doesn't mean he has no future on ours, we're not at the level of the Pats and co yet. We're still building in that direction.

If he comes in and plays and helps us in that direction then it's all good. If he's a bust then we lose nothing but a potential 7th rounder. And if he becomes disruptive then cut him loose. I'd roll that dice everytime.

Yep. For a conditional 7th - worth the risk! We'll see how it plays out...

hahaha, LeRibs. I feel like Reiter may take his spot regardless of this trade. Maybe we can trade LeRibs to Atlanta? Kyle loves random ex-Skins: Aldrick, Nick Williams, Tom Compton, etc.
 
There is simply no downside to this move. If he doesn't work out we lose nothing. We can still bring in other linemen if any become available. We can still look for RBs.

The argument can be made that there's not a ton of upside to this move, and I think that's a valid argument. Of course, that's why the dude only cost a conditional 7th rounder.

Most likely, the guy is camp fodder. I don't see this a much of an earth-shattering move, either good or bad. It's just one of those things teams do in the offseason. Shrug.
 
Henry - this is a quality player, a talented starter for a quality team as a rookie. He's not camp fodder by any stretch.

The injury issues (and possibly ability t play well with others) are the only negatives. He is a baller on the field.
