Who will be the #2 RB ?

Who will end up #2 behind Matt Jones, OR if Jones stays injured, who becomes #1 ?

But I do think if Jones stay's/gets injured then there will be a major RB by Committee.
Thompson ain't gonna be a bell cow and don't know about any of the others.

A 1st down RB & a 2nd down RB & a 3rd...Ok maybe not quite that drastic but split so only one gets to a dozen or so carries in a game wouldn't surprise me.

Have they done anything with Kerridge? STs maybe? I don't recall seeing him block or run or catch at all. Kinda strange dumping DY then drafting a FB that you don't use anyway. Still like to see him in the short game, block, run or catch.
 
Thompson's apparently sore and might sit out this next pre-season game. He's a nice change-of-pace guy, but he's clearly not durable enough to even start one game, much less be a spot duty full-timer. We just have to hope and pray one of the rookies steps up. I went with Marshall because he's fast, but that's more of a prayer at this point than anything else.

At this point our running game looks like it might be considerably worse than it was last year. I can't believe I'm actually saying that. :twitch:
 
Or, when the final roster shakes out, and the season rolls around and we start to see what if any impact an offseason of adjustments and return of key injured personnel (Lavao, Kory, TE's) have, it might be considerably better.

Or, it might be just about the same, and the offense might continue to thrive like it did the second half of the season anyway.

Anything is possible, Mark. That's why I use words like 'might' a lot. :)

Personally, I think our RB corps looks uncommonly weak so far. However, it is only Week Two of the preseason, so ya never know.

Best I can do.

For the record, I'm more in the light than in the dark. I'm just really disappointed with our RB situation.

If the question was "who is gonna be our #5 WR" I'd be all smiles. (My vote is Grant.:))

If that is the same play I'm thinking it was that was while Long was in at Center and he just missed Williams. Those things will happen with a guy learning a new spot.
The article is a nice read, though. Pretty thorough. Davis blocking well not really a surprise, he's always been a pretty good one but maybe his receiving skills overshadowed that.
 
I think the #2 back is going to end up being a veteran released in the final round of cuts.

I don't see the team counting on Kelley and Marshall to pick up the slack if Jones is out again with an injury and also be adequate in pass pro as rookies.
 
I think we might see Niles Paul line up at RB on some downs. Probably a better blocker than any RB on the roster. And, he's a receiver/TE/FB=Hback, to boot.

He should get at least one carry during the preseason. Just to cause some sleeplessness for D coordinators.

They could put darn near anyone back there that would be a better blocker than the RBs. :rapture:
Think they've done that with Paulsen in the past so a good idea to revisit. They did not do it with DY much last year so if your not gonna use a FB a TE a practical alternative.

A lot of defensive players said "YEOWCH" as a result of Joe's Blows in this vid.

How about Ronnie Hillman? Signed for just 2016. If he doesn't produce at a decent clip we can replace in 2017.

Plus he's only 27 with limited mileage. Most of the other backs out there are 30-31 year old veterans who have logged hundreds more carries.

6' 245 lb's. Yeah I'd like to see him in the backfield for blocking. Or lined up as H back. I finally caught a bit of him going through tapes. Mostly what I had seen before was him walking off the field on STs.

IDK, he got cut because he was getting outplayed by Kapri Bibbs for awhile now.
No, I have no idea either. He's been going thru the revolving door for awhile in Denver and still isn't a lock for #3 there. Unless the Broncos carry 4 backs this year then he'd most likely be #4.

You never know but that's not a good sign for Hillman.
I'm starting to think that the Redskins are going to wait for awhile and see who they get for choices as time moves on. Obviously they're not overly enamored with the current choices and they probably don't want to settle for a guy when they might do better with a little patience. Indy hasn't pounced on anyone yet so maybe there's a name or two in the rumor mill that teams are waiting to see what develops.
