Random Commanders Thoughts

I think Ryan Kelly is supposed to grade out to a late 1st/early 2nd pick and he's a Center.

Our situation at Center is as bad as any on the team.

I would not cry if we took Kelly in the first.

This draft can't get here fast enough.

Yeah, it's tough, need to read/talk Redskins Football and get a fix....... soon.

On the other hand, there's one thing about the draft, that I dread.
Every draft, the very next day, the "gurus" and "experts" claim that they have "Draft Grades" for every team.
And it should be clear to everyone, that these "Draft Grades" always come 4 or 5 years early.
The Draft Grades they should really be doing right now, is the Draft from 2011 or 2012.

I think you can grade some drafts very quickly. Within 15 seconds or less.

You didn't have to be Bill Parcells to know the D Thomas/M Kelly draft was an absolute disaster before the second round was even over.

Kelly had the bum knee, and Thomas racked up his stats against no one.

The same for the second we drafted Josh "John Belushi" Leribeus in the second round. My two year old niece couldn't even speak....but she knew that was a terrible pick.

Speaking of our draft history, it's honestly amazing that any of us are still mentally sane.

From 2000 on until just recently we have had some incredibly bad drafts. I'm not even sure how we remained optimistic.

In 2003 we had a total of three draft picks. How is that even possible?

Equally as amazing was last year's draft. We may have hit and hit big on 6 of our first 7 picks. Incredible!

We drafted a DE,Kenard Lang, in round one in 1997.

It took the Redskins until 2009 to take another one in round one in Orakpo.

And there's guys like tr1 that want to know why there's no quick turnaround here?

You can't ignore line talent in the first three rounds,12 years at a time.

Scotty's first two picks here were linemen.

Getting him as GM is akin to Moses showing up in Egypt and saying "Let my people go"...........

After 2003 in which we had three draft picks, we changed our ways in 2004. That marked the turnaround.

We had four draft picks in 2004.

In 2007, we didn't have a second, third or fourth round pick. Fortunately we came through big with Dallas Sartz in the fifth.

We all deserve hazard pay:)

The FA thing might also have a 'price fit' thing going on too.

Could be a little harder to match available FA talent at position, scheme and workable price now that the cap is being handled for future consideration as opposed to the 'quick fix'.

I'm expecting a better than average 'hit ratio' from Scot, not some miracle stuff.

Silas Redd suspended indefinitely for violation

At first, I thought it might be for steroids to help him recover from his injury last year. But indefinitely is harsh. That sounds like four or more failed tests for pot. We'll just have to wait and see. But he may have just shot himself in the foot.

That sucks for him.

I could never understand these players smoking pot. Everything is given to them. Lots of money, cars, parties, and all the resources you need to get clean. What, he didnt think he was going to get drug tested? Dumb Ass.

I used to feel the same way about these players. I'm starting to question that.

Millions of people smoke knowing they have a lot more to lose than just a three year NFL career. But they just can't stop.

The same goes for serious alcoholics.

Even some extremely obese people just can't get off the couch to exercise. Even if they know they may be eating themselves to an early death.

All of those groups have free help available to them and a lot more at risk than just a short career in football.

I don't think we even know what he was taking yet. Was it pot? Cocaine? I don't know. But maybe it's not even the drug itself. I know many believe that pot isn't addictive.

How about on the rare occasion that you read about some dentist or banker that appears to have a great life? 3 kids, financially set, white picket fence, etc. Then you read that he's been caught dressing up in women's clothes and peeping in neighborhood windows at 2 in the morning over and over again.

I definitely believe some of it is just the stupidity of youth or a big head with these football players. But it sure seems like some of these guys just have a serious addiction to something. Maybe a few of them just have extremely addictive personalities. Or self-destructive tendencies with no control.

But when compared to a person that smokes cigarettes for example--a smoker who is risking medical bills, early death, his wife or kids growing up without him--the football players really aren't risking all that much.

Silas Redd and others like him can usually land on their feet as a college RB coach at some division 2 school in the worst case scenario. He'll be okay. Maybe Doug Williams can get him hired at Grambling.

It's just that he's in the spotlight. We don't list the names of every smoker in the country all over the internet and on the tv and ask what's wrong with them.

In summary, he's either incredibly stupid or he's incredibly addicted to something to risk his NFL career.

Whatever it is, I hope he can get his act together at least enough to provide for himself and his family in the future.

I wish him the best.

He's a dumb ass no doubt. I'll bet it's weed, maybe bpho, or a synthetic. He's rehabbing a major injury, and some cats are better with pain then others. Many don't take well to pain meds, so maybe he was dumb enough to smoke up to help with pain management and sleep. Again, a complete dumb ass without a doubt, but I try not to instantly think the worst till there's more info put forth to judge by. Doesn't really matter either way though, he'll likely never wear the uniform for us again.

I think 'complete dumb ass' is probably all the description needed. There are tons of legal pain meds - you don't need to use illegal ones for pain control.
