Cuts, Keeps, Coaches, and Draft!

I am holding out hope on Ammo. Know it sounds crazy. He never gets hurt, and finished strong.
Having Ribeye and Long for much of the season hurt him. Shore up LG and C and he is a very valuable player.

If the coaches feel Pierre is still quick enough to get open, you sign him too. His kind of toughness is very important to have.
Djax. It all depends on if he will sign here for less. I want him back, but we need him to help us out.

Hatcher is going to retire.

It would be nice if a healthy Licht was our back up center.
If Jordan Reed and Chris Thompson stayed healthy, I am hoping for the same from Duke the nacho man, and Junior Galette. Wouldn't that be something!

I believe that our young DB's will get better, and that if there was a focus for the draft, it would have to be on the Defensive Line.
I am also very concerned about middle linebacker. Compton is a genius out there, but I don't know if he is durable enough.
I think Keenan is gone.

With all that said, Scot is the best in the business, and I am thrilled to have him calling the shots.
 
I sincerely apologize for not having the offseason edition of BBQ ready this morning. I should've known that the morning after the season is over that posting a mock draft, a FA report, the weekly grades, the yearly grades, and the BBQ self evaluation of season predictions was mandatory.

I said in chat that these things are coming over the next week. I didn't think that some of you would believe all of it should've been posted by 5 am EDT this morning. I've been working on the FA reports and mocks since mid October. If someone wants to take over the duties of mocks and FA reports, then I have no other choice - BBQ will retire. However, please be advised that it takes a lot of study, prep, and time. In other words, it takes a lot of devotion and you must be open to disagreements and constructive criticism.

When I started to see people doing grades before the weekly BBQ was posted, it was really confusing. When I saw that, I had to take a step back and still be as objective as possible. I encourage members to agree, disagree, or discuss differences within those threads. I encourage it - in every single thread. Those threads allow for open discussion - agree or disagree.

BBQ even asks for your own predictions, mocks, FA predictions, grades, and anything else that is posted in those threads.

It's starting to become obvious that BBQ is no longer effective and does not represent BGO members any longer. I'm thinking that this is the last week for it. I'll decide by next Monday.

I don't think that is the case at all, BB. I'm thinking there is just a tad more interest this year after 9-7 and a playoff game than there was last year after 3-13 with a season done at Thanksgiving. We all are looking forward to your write ups. They are more in depth than an of the off the cuff stuff the rest of us have tossed out. Take your time. We will read it when you are ready to post it. No pressure.

Don't be distracted by a few wannabees BB, your stuff carries a lot more weight with me than some of the reactionary stuff that gets on here.

There are several reasons I'm here and support this site and your work is one of them.
 
I'm not mad at anyone nor am I pointing any fingers. I did state the intentions in chat, but it appeared to be ignored. That happens.

Tom, there are no wannabes in here in my humble opinion. The vast majority of our members are football savvy and I'm glad they share their football knowledge. Yes, it is reactionary, but this is an emotional sport. It's to be expected when we just suffered a devastating loss.

Bob, I don't mind people speculating about what we may do, especially after what happened on Sunday. It's human nature. However, the format used by a few was pretty much like what is posted in BBQ. So, I must ask - what's the point?

Members should be free and open to discuss the game and how it could affect FA and the draft. I have no problems with such posts. However, to take that format and run with it like a few have done only renders my postings next week somewhat ineffective and a bit useless.

I don't see folks posting threads like Blognostications or Re-con, just their reactions within those blogs. I still have a lot of thinking to do, but hope to have a decision by this weekend.
 
Clearly I missed something, but I'm taking this opportunity to say something that's been on my mind for a while now ...

Around here we appreciate anybody who takes the time to research and post substantive material. That has become a rarer and rarer commodity as message boards evolve--not just here but across the web. Boards have evolved in such a way that the majority of participants contribute almost exclusively via comment and critique of material posted by others.

And for the record, that's fine. But as we hope everyone reading this knows, we set out to build a community of thoughtful, creative Redskins fans who subscribe to the notion that one can be passionate about something on the internet and remain civil at the same time. Those who consistently show they "get that" AND provide substantive material to drive discussion have never been lost on us or unappreciated. Nor will they ever be.

And now back to the topic at hand.

Correspondent Frank Reynolds, clearly aggravated with the information constantly changing, barked at everyone involved, "Let's not get it first, let's get it right!"

Are there any top DL prospects that are supposed to be available when we pick at 21? I could see us taking one there. Think we'll see some attention being paid to the DL this offseason.

I get lost in chat while watching games so I miss everything :)

Whatever you decide just know that there are lots-o-us who appreciate the work. Same goes for the rest of you folk who do the weekly 'columns', maintain the site and pass around the fandom.

DeSean isn't going anywhere in 2016 because he is signed through 2016. He hits the cap @ $9,250,000 but also carries $6,250,000 in dead money. They might extend his contract but he's here. That's only a $3M cap savings if you're thinking about some kind of release or trade.

The team has a voidable option in 2017. If he's going anywhere else it won't be till then at the soonest.

Right now, defense is where the focus should be on team improvement. Anywhere on the D. Everywhere on the D.

Either or both coordinators could go & I wouldn't feel bad. They can stay for those thinking it is more of a letdown by players or whatever. McVay would be my favorite to leave.

Doing Redskins Recon I see threads like BBQ on other teams fan boards as well-yours is equal to and often better than the very best of those as well BB. Keep them coming.
 
There may be other threads of a similar nature, BB, but yours is the one we wait for. It isn't the format of the information you provide, it's the detail and the analysis that's valued.

Thanks for the details on Djax.
As far as the coordinators, I like their intensity and the fact that they have shown signs of improvement and being creative.
They got owned a few times, but I think they will get better. Barry not blitzing vs GB was an in-game adjustment he had to make, and did not. He went in thinking GB was a bad, beat up line and that we would not have to blitz. At some point, he has to say....my bad, they are whipping us up front.
 
I think what I want to see next year, aside from some nice McL moves to improve the talent, is a finer attention to detail. I think Grudens rapport with the players is obviously good, but he has to walk that line where he's the guy in charge. That needs to show on the filed in reduced mistakes at critical times. We had a few early that really set the tone and let the game slip away. It was improved this year over previous years, but I want to see it continue to improve. For the first time in years I'm actually relaxed about the off season and really interested in the moves we make. I generally tune out after seasons end and only pay any attention to player acquisition the few days before the draft. I'll be in all off season now.
