At best they sticking their finger in the wind right now.

At worst they are just hoping it all goes away so they dont have to do anything.

My guess is the Redskins are doing the same.
 
I'm not surprised by the league trying to keep this quiet. What I'm surprised by is the lack of media focus.
 
I have really heard zero else from the press with any facts since the first incident occurred. Perhaps that is a sign there is nothing to it and no reason to keep talking about it.
 
There's something to it - whether the something is an ex-girlfriend trying to extort money, or to embarrass an ex-boyfriend, or a rookie NFL player who is guilty of domestic abuse. There are no other explanations - the question is, which of those is it and why is there utter silence on it all?

Perhaps I wasn't clear what I meant by "nothing to it"

Perhaps there is nothing criminal or on a legal standpoint to speak about to the public.
 
Mike - I 100% understand your posts brother. But I think anyone, given the domestic violence climate and recent NFL drama has to wonder, what this was all about and why there are nothing but cricket chirps emanating from the NFL, the Redskins, and the press. I understood what you meant - but I think obviously what I'm saying is something unpleasant happened and the NFL (and probably law enforcement as well) is obligated to determine what.

I don't want 'no news', I want the truth. Because if the guy did this, I want him gone.
 
I feel ya..me, too.

But I don't want pieces and back tracking and retracting and egg on the face or worse charges later. I just want one good investigation and one good report

Keim was already harping on that this morning on the radio, talking about how RG3's mechanics looked better last Spring, then went to hell during the regular season. Then he talked about how the team was building around RG3, almost insinuating they were trying to convince themselves he was worth keeping. Adding a QB coach alone, which Gruden inexcusably didn't have on his staff last year, is a huge change. Factor in O-Line Coach and drafting a new RT with your top pick and this is much more than just about their comfort with RG3. This is about rectifying wrongs.

So, people had no problem having Dante Stallworth on the team despite the fact he killed someone on the road, but Crowder should be immediately cut if he did anything wrong, no matter the severity?
 
No - Crowder should be immediately cut if it turns out he beat his girlfriend. I don't see 'degrees' of wrongdoing if he did do it (stress on 'if'). He deserves to be immediately dismissed if it's true. I don't see what another player and how he was or wasn't perceived by fans has to do with it.

You have to be careful in setting your standards that you don't in the end become a hypocrite.

Leonard Little played 9 or 10 years in the league getting busted numerous times for DUI and ended up killing a woman one night but the Rams took him back.

Crowder? I don't know he is guilty of anything. But if so the circumstances of the case need to be considered before action is taken.

We seem to have gone from a standard that ''anything goes' to one of having your career terminated for any infractions.
 
The times, they are a'changing. You can (probably correctly) blame the Ray Rice VIDEO (not the action, the video) for this recent rush to publically excoriate athletes over any and all infractions, imo. I think the backlash from that situation will reverberate for a while.

Having said that, it's hard for me to muster an ounce of sympathy for any asshole scumbag who beats a woman. If Crowder did it, I hope he gets cut 30 seconds after the finding is made.
 
So, assuming Crowder did beat his girlfriend Bulldog - I'd love to hear the extenuating circumstances that would warrant keeping him around?

Sorry, I wouldn't apply universal repercussions to all crimes, but with domestic abuse, I would. It's unacceptable under any circumstances. Doesn't mean the player can't learn and become a better human being. But I personally don't want him sporting my team's colors while we wait to find out if he can. That's just the way I see it.
 
Wait a second...I thought he was "off paying her to be quiet" or something like that.

I think if you searched you'd find me against those facts. Can't be against something from Twitter until the FACTS are made clear. But the FACTS have not been presented. Last I checked this is still the U S A.

But like I said, the NFL doesnt care. It never has.

If we see footage of Crowder caving in his girlfriends face the NFL will do something. Otherwise he'll be on the roster in September ... unless he sucks.

Has nothing to do with what you or I personally want. It just is what it is.

Not directed at you: we all need to let it play out.

As a sidebar...this one has always interested me. So...there's a lot of chest pounding on this and other boards about just such events - in short....morality finger-pointing. How many folks on this board and others go to a game....get *hit faced...and then hop in their cars? how many folks get high and hop in their cars? dinner at a friends? plenty of vino? BT, ZI think your comment about the serious of an accusation and how it is handled is spot on - though there is the notion in our society that if a miscreant "has paid his dues" he is allotted another chance (see Mike Vick). In the event....we all know where I am headed with this.

Let the Crowder thing play out. We should be happy Crowder didn't attend Duke! Whoops....he did! We'd have the MSNBC icon of virtue posting on our board!
