Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2015 (Continual Updates)

And he is not a 3 down player so 4 million is about right i do believe unless he can improve as a pass rusher i dont see him getting more than 5-5.5 million a year

does chris Baker have any more friends?

Most of the bigger DTs have some sort of weight issue. No worries.

This McCloughan dude is pretty good, eh?

DL is now...
Ricky Jean Francois
Jason Hatcher
Terrance "Pot Roast" Knighton
Stephen Paea
Chris Baker
Frank Kearse
Kedric Golston
and a few odd balls.

I wouldn't rule out another add in FA and the draft.

</header>The fact that Pot Roast is a FA is freaking insane. Best Nose in League #facts

Not expecting Neild to recover from his injury, huh ?

Neild is currently a FA.

The Washington #Redskins have added over 900lbs to their defensive line in the infancy of Free Agency 2015. #ThanksScot #HTTR

So Francois, Paea, and now Knighton.

Raise your hand if you're guilty of once again beginning to feel a slight pull towards being suckered into feeling optimistic about this team?

For me personally, I'm on a strict "prove it" diet from this point forward. Too many guys have come through the doors of Redskins Park in the past, only to be a shadow of their former self when they started sporting our colours.

I will say this though, McCloughan gets a perfect score so far for the approach and mentality heading into FA, seeing that he's emphasizing the defensive front, as opposed to bringing in some shiny new toys at the more glamorous positions.

If we go offensive line heavy in April's draft, I just might have to crack a smile about this team's direction for once.

If we bring in at least one starter at CB, Culliver or Cox would be fine with me, that is a long way to delivering a better defense. Draft a young safety with 2nd or 3rd and at least 3 OL in the 1st 5 rounds and were are on the way to 6 wins. I'll take it!

I'm going to play contrarian here. I don't see how signing a NT for 1 year does anything for us.

Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all?

It makes us better. If the guy is sd good as people are saying, it's the first legit NT in the 3-4 in... ever. We should see immediate improved LBer and secondary play. Not saying it's a five game improvement or anything, but we're definitely better off than we were this time yesterday.

Who cares if we're better in 2015 (and I'm being serious)? If the guy is a player, and that's all he's shown to date - why a 1 year deal? Keim is pitching it's a 'prove yourself' deal. I think that's a ridiculous assertion. It's a 'you won't pay me big dollars, but no one else seems to want to either so I'll stay for a year and then find someone who will deal'.

I don't see how it helps us. Better than nothing? I guess. But not by much.

Flexibility? I mean, I get what you're saying, but if you've got a player you don't want to go all in on and he agrees to your terms, it mitigates your risk, doesn't it? If no one else was giving him a 5 year deal with $29M guaranteed, maybe we're not the only team with questions. Worst case? He blows it up and we have the inside track to pay big bucks next year. I'd rather have that kind of "problem" than trying to force Cofield into a NT position he's not suited for.
