Cooley made a pretty convincing case yesterday that Breeland will be a top five corner for years to come, and that when Hall gets back they should make him the nickel corner. Amerson is okay but he is nowhere near aggressive enough IMHO. He seems to play scared to me, laying off receivers way too much. If we get Hall back and draft a stud safety (could be our first pick), we could have a pretty tough secondary.

I like Breeland A LOT. I hope he continues to develop and Hall can teach him some ball skills.

I'd be curious where teams rank in order of botched or non calls for the season. I'd bet we're top 10 easily.

I bet we are and part of that may be due to the fact we get crap referee crews when you stink.

I am pretty sure where the CBs line up is totally scheme and not CB choice. In pro ball today, I have no clue why every DC isn't calling for his CBs to get right up on the WRs at the LOS and jam them, hard, to disrupt the timing of the passing offense. Nearly every offense runs some sort of timing scheme now days and giving the WRs a free release just seems to play right into their hands to me.

I agree with you. for all the trash talked about Gregggggg an his defenses, Sean was told "dont you put your feet 20 yards inside from the LOS" and I liked that. The safety should help with the over the top stuff or get a good run. Its easier to run IN than it is backwards. But corners should be up in your face pressing your game to throw you off.

I dont know if we NEED Murphy to be an elite pass rusher in order for our defense to be successful. In fact, with the way Kerrigan has been playing, the argument could almost be made that Murphy's MORE valuable NOT being AS effective in the pass rush, and focusing more on run defense. I agree that in order for it to still be effective as a whole, we need more pressure generated from the line and from blitzing, but if Murphy is above average in Rush defense, I'm more then happy with him being out there, even if he is middle of the road when it comes to a pass rush.


We also can't forget that Murphy has been matched up against LT's which are arguably the best O-Linemen in the game... he's a rookie facing the anchor player of the O-Line... he's got time to get better.

Kerrigan, if one listens to Coolie, has problems as well as a pass rusher.....doesn't handle chips well and is mediocre on stunts that take him to the inside. that's Coolie's view anyway. in my mind....a good defense needs good pass rushers from both ends - isn't that the main reason many folks are unhappy with rak?

anywho.....the defense continues to be a project.

Kerrigan, if one listens to Coolie, has problems as well as a pass rusher.....doesn't handle chips well and is mediocre on stunts that take him to the inside. that's Coolie's view anyway. in my mind....a good defense needs good pass rushers from both ends - isn't that the main reason many folks are unhappy with rak?

again...we'll see. Murphy's short-comings are exploitable...and have been. see him being doubled in pass pro? that frees blockers for other assignments. btw...I have seen Murphy run himself out of the pocket pass rushing multiple times. go back a watch the first dallarse game....he was manhandled and out of it on passing downs. his run d has gotten better...no doubt.

look at his stats...especially pass related. they're nothing special. this will be an issue in coming years - it's a liability for the defense. just saying.

2.5 sacks and 2 FFs is pretty good for someone who has barely started.

Indeed. Better numbers than Rak had in that position and Murphy is a lot cheaper.

I'm not too critical. I have a different point-of-view from you and a couple others. not the end of the world.

I've been watching him from day 1 - the whole 14 game span he has played. he has improved. that said....I am not impressed by his pass rushing skills and believe he will be a liability in that regard downstream. nothing personal about it. it's what I am seeing. next season is another chance for improvement.

Most definitely. It is something that is very nice and his weekly improvement is also something that is very nice.

Googling Jeff Triplette produces numerous articles detailing various team's experiences with his crew-mostly highlighting a dubious level of competence. Jeff T. is basically a joke when it comes to accurate and respected officiating among a lot of observers.

The problem with Murphy is no push from the inside. It's too easy for teams to double him or Kerrigan when they know they can handle the rest of the line one on one. Murphy is young, and I don't think he's come close to reaching his potential yet.

well now...let's see if his sack numbers at least match orakpos in follow-on years.

2.5 is...frankly...pathetic and won't cut it over the long haul. from what I have seen...I don't think the pressures are all that great either.

so let's see some 10/11 sack seasons from young Mr Murphy. shouldn't be all that hard.

22 tackles? not all that great either when factored per game.

the guy is smart, keeps quiet and has improved. just not convinced he's destiny much less a great 2nd rnd selection. If, over the course of time, my intuitions are wrong...well...then we all win!

In a quick overview of the front page, I saw nothing about this. So, is this true? If so, this is a huge win for us.

But the FCC said that the law defines profanity as sexual or excretory in nature — meanings that don’t relate to the name of the football team.

To compare, the team with the second-lowest amount of cap room is the Giants, who have almost $325,000 in space, about 17 times the amount the Redskins do. The team with the most space is the Jaguars, who have almost $22 million in space. The average remaining cap rom per team is $5.9 million. Teams can carry over cap room from one year to the next so the Redskins will be at something of a disadvantage in free agency. It looks like they will enter free agency with about $9 million in cap space with the ability to create as much as $20 million more by making some roster moves.
