It's been fun, SEC, really fun - seven consecutive national championships, your own network, the undying enmity of the rest of the country. Really, it's been great. But as you limp into the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, with No. 1 Alabama playing, ta-da, No. 17 Missouri, I think it's time to sit down and have a little talk.

We still like you. You still put on a great show every week. What the Iron Bowl lacked in, oh, I don't know, defense on Saturday night it more than made up for in the pageantry and emotion that only a great college football rivalry can produce.

But let's be honest. You're not what you have been. You're not all that. You're not even all that good. And now that the season is concluding, and we can step back and gain the perspective that we lose in the Saturday-to-Saturday frenzy of the regular season, maybe we can figure out how the rest of us got hornswoggled into thinking you hadn't lost a step.

What a crock of shit that FSU drops to number 4, and I am no fan of FSU. Why the hell didn't bama drop too since they struggled? This is just as laughable as the ****ing bcs.

Hey NCAA get a grip and do a real 16 team playoff, and put in all the conference winners. If you don't want that then make a new division with only the teams you want. This 4 team crap is just that crap. People think college football is so great, well I think it is a joke because of this. It is the only sport that doesn't have a true playoff.

If these standings remain after this weekend's games, FSU is going to have a stiff test against Alabama in the first round.

Alabama is currently projected to be 11 1/2 point favorites if that game happens. Ouch! That will be a real test for Jameis and the Noles.

I agree. They really don't like FSU.

I'm not assuming anything. If we only beat Georgia Tech by only 3 and someone below us wins by 20, I suspect they'll drop us.

I dont know if they're conspiring to defeat you as much as they're conspiring to get the biggest geographic turnout. If you all stayed ranked 3 and won, you'd have to travel to to the rose bowl in Cali and play Oregon where if the match ups stay the way they are, Oregon vs TCU is in Pasadena, California is closer to a midpoint and Alabama vs FSU is in New Orleans. The match ups as they are would most likely generate a better turnover for each team.

Because they are undefeated and no other team in any major conference is. Have you seen some of the teams TCU had trouble with? Kansas 3-7 Jayhawks. We beat as many ranked opponents as they have in a tougher conference. TCU's conference has 3 bowl eligible teams out of 9. FSU's conference has 5 bowl eligible teams out of 7. TCU has lost...FSU has not.

Edit: And I will add that Oregon has 3 bowl eligible teams out 0f 6 in their conference. They lost a game as well.

They've looked like absolute crap lately.

However, undefeated teams in decent conferences are usually ranked higher than 4. Until just a few years ago, an undefeated would almost guarantee a ranking at number 1.

I think 3 is accurate. When they scheduled their out-of-conference games (usually done four years in advance) playing teams like Notre Dame, Florida and Miami wasn't exactly scheduling pansies.

That's a huge contrast to OSU--a team that knows their conference sucks every year, and the rest of their schedule is even weaker.

I understand but we all know wins alone are not the only data point, right? I didn't say anything about TCU - I guess my perspective is, if you want to be an undisputed top ranked team, don't look shaky against mid-talent teams or have to mount late game rallies to win against average ones.

How can they control there own destiny when they keep sliding in the rankings but keep winning football games...while other teams have lost?

And I agree, TCU lost to Baylor...yet TCU is ranked higher? Why? Because they beat sub .500 teams by 50 points? FSU has played more .500 teams than anyone in the top 4...except Bama. That is teams that will go to Bowl games not teams that won't be playing after this weekend. The once vaunted Big 12 is a shell of the conference it used to be and the competition in that conference is poor. TCU and Baylor should not be rewarded so handsomely for beating Division II College talent. Is the ACC a powerhouse like the SEC used to be, no. But the ACC is the most competitive overall conference outside of the SEC East.

Big game for the Noles. Looks like a win sends them to a matchup with Alabama...because we all know a blowout of an unranked, terrible Iowa State team makes TCU a higher seed!
