I saw a random tweet yesterday from someone at the paper that shall not be named in which he said. teams have finally figured out they should run two WRs at Amerson because he gets confused on whom to cover. I'm not football expert, but that seems to jive with what you are saying.
He is certainly getting confused. Whats a head scratcher is that on at least two of the blown coverages we were in vanilla cover 3. He had deep outside responsibility. Its a basic coverage, nothing exotic. On the first he got caught looking inside route matching an outside receiver who went to the post (Clark had him) and left Fleener wide open coming from the inside. Thats not THAT complex. On the other he was looking at a receiver running a short route to his side and turned Fleener loose behind him, just cant do that when your in Cover 3 and have deep third. Again pretty basic stuff.
He just seems to struggle with having his eyes in the right place and understanding his coverage rules in zone even if they are pretty basic rules let alone when things get complex or the offense scheme to fool you.
