Just to be clear, I agree that many just need to shut up and play football. There is the expectation for athletes, however, that they must give sound bites. They have microphones shoved in their faces, and have contractual obligations to talk. Shutting up isn't so much an option, and if you have somebody who processes events in a cerebral fashion, what do you expect them to say?

I don't see that sort of thing as being the problem, i guess. The situation is setup for them to fail. You either give no answer coach-speak, or you give a sound bite that will stick around.

I'm perfectly fine with coach speak... in fact I think we need more of it. It's damn near impossible because of what you touched on, and I understand that... and it's even more difficult when you take into account the effect that social media has. Problem is that Griffin, whether he believes what he's feeding the media or not, needs to buy into protecting his teammates. I know he's 24 and that's a very valid reasoning behind him talking so much, but there could have been a lot of things that could have been said without making it appear you're elevating yourself. He name dropped Manning and Brady.

The problem I always see with Griffin is that he is an extrovert, and and externalizer. He copes outside of himself, not within himself. It isn't a bad thing, just his way, but it does get used against him often.

It means it isn't going away, because it's in his personality to cope by posting and talking through issues.

Looks like Gruden is getting tired of the public nonsense and doesn't care where it's coming from.

Gruden watched the game again and probably saw that RG3 refused to throw the ball to anybody past 5 yards and the 2-3 times he did he overthrew the receiver. Besides that RG3 was busy getting sacked for standing there for 3+ seconds making no decision or running with it.

My bet is that Gruden pulls RG3 in the middle of the next game if he doesn't start making the passes that both backups make with 1/2 the arm most of the time.

I'm not sure. I can't imagine that Snyder and Allen are happy with Griffin right now, so I think they back Gruden on his decision if he decides to go another direction.

He pulls Robert from a game in a season that's already lost, he sets us back another 5 or 6 years

Step 1. The team has a horrendous game. The QB takes a lot of responsibility, but then says a few stupid things that some interpret as calling out other players.

Step 2. The HC says that no one on the team played well. Including the QB. Says the QB's comments went too far about others on the team.

Step 3. QB runs to Facebook and calls out anyone who believes that his comments were inappropriate.

The problem? The HC was one of those people.

Why can't we ever have anything nice?

I wasn't referring to them speaking out, or pointing fingers. No one really likes that--unless it's Clinton Portis and then people defend him for some reason. But they choose to apply a different standard here.

I meant who can blame them for being pissed? Neither of these guys want to play on a losing team during their best years in the league. They are frustrated. They want better execution. I'd be much more concerned if they were okay with losing.

eff those cats. if what you project is true...*uck them and the horse they rode in on. it's not about a group of egotistical **icks making more money in their 20s than most people earn in a lifetime. they are there for the team.....not the other way around.

those turds need to pipe up alright: specifically about getting back to basics (hmmm...a different slant on that theme) so they all look at least marginally professional. what we are seeing traces, in part, to one major root cause: lack of focus/concentration. the dropped passes, false starts, lining up in the wrong place...and on...and on. that starts and ends with every player on that team.

not ranting at you McD5. I'm run down by these sorry excuses for players. they are the ones tubing each of these games.

Much as I like Gruden:

he needs to get his friggin act in order too. this team is not executing basics and makes atrocious mistakes. the longer it persists......that is on coaching pure and simple.
