The Name Change

And here I didn't think there was an issue that would put me in a more sour mood this morning than the stupid patent ruling yesterday. Excellent!

This is an awesome Redskins football site and the owners have sacrificed their blood, sweat and tears to bring this type of forum to fans. So imagine my disappointment when I dropped in this morning to see this thread devolve into the bickering and whining cluster it has become. I was even more horrified to see John's post about the future status of this site as there are a lot of great and dedicated Redskins fan posters for which this site is a breath of fresh air as far as great Redskins insight, news and blog posts. To say I'm disappointed that passive aggressive posts, overtly aggressive posts, petty bickering, petty shots at moderators and owners and unparalleled whining is an understatement.

I swear to God in heaven I have never seen such pettiness from adults. The fact that some of you guys can't even keep from bickering when potentially volatile issues (the PA forum) have been removed from the forum is seriously pathetic. For heaven's sake, some of the people involved in the site's most explosive arguments have never even met each other in the real world! What. The. Hell?!?!

Us moderators/owners don't play favorites (even though you think we do) and it hurts (at least me) when we're accused here and elsewhere of doing so. Extensive discussion behind the scenes goes on to ensure any disciplinary actions meted out are as fair as possible; in fact, that is why the point infraction system was implemented! Unfortunately, even with this, people continue to blame us for their punishments when they break the rules and post in a manner that goes completely against the founding principles of this site. Instead of complaining, I would suggest looking inward and evaluating your own behavior on this site to determine why moderating actions were taken against you.

Bottom line: it's a sad day when you have owners seriously contemplating pulling the plug on this site because some people continue to revert to preschool-like behavior and can't stop antagonizing each other and complaining when they're disciplined.

Well said Special K. Maybe I'm in cranky mood but I'm not quite ready to let this go just yet.

Ax, its very very simple at this point. Either respect the wishes of the guys who built, paid for, and own this place or dont. If you don't, you should probably find some other place to post. If you do, seriously shut up about the PA and its topics already. Its over.

I am beyond sick of all this crap.

Oh and El, I wass the mod who handled the 'idiot' name-calling situation. It was about a two hours between the actual use of the word 'idiot' and my action because we have day jobs, and sometimes delays happen. However, if you or anyone else has a problem with how I handled it, feel free to address me directly.

I've joined the facebook group now, seems to be a fairly active group. I wonder if they'll get paid attention to much?

what group is that? The Native Americans FOR Redskins one? Or something like that?

I never mentioned the PA. Not one ****ing time. Get your facts straight before you accuse me of a goddamn thing.

And other than mentioning that certain wishes now exist, I haven't disrespected anyone. I get that certain subjects are taboo. It now seems that merely mentioning the taboo's are a worse offense than the taboo's themselves.

And remember, you're the one that started this thing out in the open, not me. I'm just following your example.

My history over the years was wasted ****ing time.

For the third time, if that's such a terrible burden, there's the door.

And remember, you're the one that started this thing out in the open, not me. I'm just following your example.

Sure. I'd rather get this settled right now than watch you continue to passive aggressively snipe at a staff decision forever. You want to make sure your opinion has been noted? Rest assured, it has. Repeatedly.

Move on.

Well...by "directly", do you mean here, or in PM? I was just going to walk away from this altogether, but you called on me, so...

I have put in nearly 30 hours in at work since yesterday at 5:30 am. I am waiting for some photos to upload, missing my wife's performance tonight and perusing the site now only to come across this. I am sparingly here anymore because I work too damn much so the 2 hour window you're referring to...was a longer window for me. I still have no clue what sort of action was taken for the blatant disrespect shown to my friend.

I come on last night after a long day to see someone calling my friend an idiot. I had no idea what was or wasn't done. Did my friend hyperventilate a little when he got called out? Yeah...the big galoot does that sometimes when the same posters continually poke and prod. But I had no clue there had been any actions taken by the mods. All I saw was the same poster who blatantly broke the rules, still posting. Was I snarky in my question about whether consequences would be doled out? Sure...I am a callous prick at times. I know that. What I wasn't doing is questioning your abilities as moderators of a forum...I was simply bringing light to the fact the very civility demanded of us had seemingly gone unnoticed.

I was serious when I said this site had tremendous harmony over the past couple of weeks. It did! One contentious issue, that had been discussed with civility prior, all of a sudden spirals out of control. What is the common denominator? Did I play a part in it? Yup...I reacted! You attack a friend of mine, you better believe I take it as an affront to me. Did you, Boone or any other mod, deserve my smart aleck comment? Well, I kinda wish I had simply pushed the warning button and not chimed in, but I did.

What does this all mean? Well, a+b=c...if we don't hear from the poster I called out for his never ending instigation because he lacks the ability to play well with others and the site returns to the same harmony it saw for a couple of weeks? Well, I'd say we're on to something. If this response means I need to disappear from the site because I can be a callous prick, so be it.

I am heading out to catch the rest of my wife's performance. BGO, or more importantly the people who have invested so much to provide us this forum, and yes that means you too Henry ;), is/are truly some of the good ones. I have made friends here and will continue to be friends with them wherever we go. I learned a long time ago, the internet is serious business, but I have the ability to interact with friends and family outside the virtual realm.

Well, looks like everyone's getting along nicely

I take these past few months as validation in a claim I made many times. That I knew exactly what the source of BGO's ailment was, and that it wasn't me. Certain people constantly pointed at me when things spun out of control, but it was easy to do. I had a habit of reacting to provoking behavior. Did I go about it the right way? I don't think anyone can say I did. More often than not, my response when I felt like I was being attacked was to attack back, but in the most over the top way I could. It was childish, obviously, but I couldn't help myself. Actually, I didn't want to help myself. I made it clear too many times how I felt, and nothing was going to change that unless I left or a certain member left. So I left, for my own sanity, and for the good of the site. Yet, here we are. Same storm, different day.

I left this site, a place I absolutely love, because I felt certain members would never let me contribute and be happy without twisting everything I said or looking for hidden meaning, and I was over the fighting. I was missing the earlier days of BGO and feared I might never see that again and didn't want the headache. It actually makes me sad to see that a group of adults who were brought together by the love of a common bond can't get along or even pretend to. It's a virtual world, it isn't even real. What happens here doesn't matter in the real world unless you let it. Don't let it. Don't try and make someone's day or life rough just because you don't agree with their view of something. How boring would life be if we were all the same and liked all the same stuff?

I love 99.9% of the people here. There are certain things I only get joy out of discussing on BGO. I know every member here feels the same way. People disagree, big deal. We're adults, and in real life most of us would love each other. John and the other owners and mods put a lot of time, hard work and patience (along with a heavy does of willpower) into making this the greatest Redskins site in the world. Personally, I think they are very close to achieving that. The only thing missing is for everybody to step out of the gasoline puddle, put out the matches, and grow the **** up.

Seriously. Every damn one of you, grow the **** up and get it together. Do you want to go back to ES being your only option? Oh wait, that's right, most of us couldn't go back to ES if we wanted. And why is that? Because we're assholes and got banned for being assholes. These guys could've turned us away for our reputations, but did they? No. They gave us a fresh start, and left the past in the past. How did some members thank them for their noble gesture? By giving them the finger every chance they got. Behind their back at first, then eventually right to their face. Some of you need your finger cut off.

John, Om, etc. Don't shut off BGO. Just shut off the gas supply.

See you all whenever. FB friends, see you where I always see you :D Next time I drop by, you better have your heads out of your asses, or I swear I'll take off my belt and flog every last one of you.

As for you Goal, wake up man. We all had our dicks put up for safe keeping when we got married, same as you. Level playing field

****

I really didn't want to see anything like that happen. The core members and people overall matter.

Seriously, we all need to sit down to a BBQ, beer, pow wow, whatever and actually get to know each other. As much as I grate on your nerves, the fact that you guys KNOW me matters. The chat room - matters.
