And there we have classic confirmation bias. They are seeing only what they want.

I personally think a campaign like that is doomed to fail int his way no matter what. The internet is wonderful at making a vocal minority even louder. The best part is the linking of some people of Redskins to "300 years of institutional racism and genocide". I sure hope that person is campaigning for an end to Columbus day. That's been around since 1937, and actually does celebrate a genocidal white supremacist.

It's so stupidly abused for political gain by some that it's ridiculous. Anything that ever happens with it is tainted by that now. The people who are not being helped by it though? All those people everybody seems to think they are helping, the Native Americans. They aren't getting helped with it, besides those such as Harbritter getting their pockets lined with the publicity. We're getting paraded around for political points. Feels awesome, let me tell you.

Keeping doing it, white guilt. I'm sure you'll feel better when you're done abusing us for your own feelings.

Edit: And this is why Keim is a good journalist. He actually knows how to show it without bias.

The Redskins are fueling the effort. The smart thing to do would be not to respond. Ignore the entire issue. If you say anything, reiterate 'We will never change the name.'

There is one. The NFl controls it. My point is, NFL really hasn't made any kinda move that to show that they are backing the name change program.

No need for a PR campaign with eighty to ninety percent favoring the team name. Ignoring the naysayers would help tremendously and keeping focus on the new Original Americans charity is even better.

I don't think the NFL is controlling it anymore then Nike. Nike is worldwide and I don't think the NFL beats them heads up, or is dumb enough to try.

Exactly... it's *almost* like they're intentionally failing with this PR crap, so when the name changes, Snyder can say "see, I fought this."

Definite kudos to RG3 for doing that, but even more kudos to the girl that organized this for her friend. You could see in the interview she truly cared for Espinal and to see a young, high school student taking the time and making the effort to do something so meaningful for her friend was even more neat to me.

And on a sidenote: I hope the PR department personnel responsible for the Twitter campaign is/are fired. Did they not see the Twitter campaign of the NYPD blow up in their faces just last month. Unbelievable.

Wow, that's embarrassing. And I'm not talking about being turned down. I'm talking about the person who has the cajones to extend such a transparent invite to a tribal leader.

National news here, folks. Only thing I see in this is that people are surprised a leader couldn't make something when he has a government to take care of. People are digging to find anything at this point. This is the biggest non-story yet.

I'm telling you, this is classic faux-effort. They are putting on the dog and pony show so when the name changes, Snyder looks blameless. I bet they've already got new names, logos, and marketing strategies ready to go. The NFL and Goodell may even be in on it.

That was the most half-assed attempt at a meeting ever, with someone who deserves way more respect than that. Would Snyder just call up the governor of Virginia and be like, "hey come to a meeting, we need your answer in two hours!!" Of course not.

This theory doesn't seem to add up. Has Snyder ever seemed like the type, to overly care about the feelings of the fans, or try to convince them of such a thing ?

I'd like to know who called from Corona Calif.... It also bothers me that a 'someone' working for the team called, one would expect that at least a name of the person or company representing the team would be out there for this stuff to be more legit.

If this stuff did not come from the team, then there needs to be a pause in this utterly stupid campaign to appeal to the fans of this team for more public support while the problem is looked into.

It should be up to the naysayers to come up with reasonable stats and argument to back up their claims but it's way to easy in this day and age to just put 'stuff' out there for the masses with little to no actual meat on the bone.

If indeed a representative of the team is doing this stuff, this way, then the PR arm of the team is FUBAR.
