I would certainly hope so.
Helu has shown far more production, versatility, and talent, over the past 3 years, than Royster.
If anyone is in favor of keeping Royster over Helu, I would love to hear the logic behind that.

I don't find Kitchen Nightmares, or Hells Kitchen as true to form as Master Chef. Way too much time lapsed on Kitchen nightmares, and hells kitchen has gone more for the entertainment end by bring in people that haven't a chance of winning just to fill the cast. The first few seasons weren't like that. Master Chef is about as real as it can get.
 
I hear Chris Cooley is available...

I think back up fullback isn't a position most teams devote a roster spot to, but I could be wrong. They've got at least one UDFA coming in for a tryout, so there's that.

Tandler believes that new TE we drafted can also play FB, in addition to playing immediately on ST.
 
He's 6'5 and 257 but yes, one of his weaknesses was listed as in-line blocking.

I don't think Tandler is suggesting that Young's job is in jeopardy. Just that he expects to see Gruden use the new TE all over the field in several different formations.

Gruden will teach him how to block. And if Young does get injured, we'll have a backup on the roster.

After Gruden called him "War Daddy" on ST, I think the kid is going to make the team.
 
Gotta disagree - way too early to think he's a lock...I'd say it's he's a long shot at this point.

I'm not really looking for someone to "replace" Young.
Neither am I looking for a 2nd player, in addition to Young, to hold the specific position designation of "Fullback" on the roster, as some earlier posters assumed that I meant
All I'm asking for, is ANYONE on the roster, at ANY position title, who is halfway capable of convincingly impersonating a FB - should Young go down to injury - as he did during last season.....which turned out to be one of our 2013 disasters that I don't want to see repeat.

Yeah, one of the TE's spent quite a bit of time as a FB but I don't remember which. I think it was Perry - could easily be wrong on that.
 
How much does a Gruden offense use FB? If I recall correctly...when Gruden was first hired one of the first topics of conversation among beat reporters was the implications for Young
 
If you are a 6'5 257 TE and your weakness is in line blocking then you better be damn fast like Tony Gonzalez or show the overall athletic ability of Antonio Gates.

From his bio I find it laughable that people are thinking Bolser comes in and takes a roster spot from Paulsen.

Last year Paulsen was tagged with having to block DL on a regular basis to help cover up the line's deficiencies.

With Reed at 6'3 and 243, Paulsen is going to be here as the second tight end for awhile.

My guess is Bolser doesn't make it and is among the August cuts.

There's also Kevin Perry and Marcel Jensen, the two UDFA TE's we signed, who may surprise

Chris Cooley's number one weakness for years was blocking, and he had neither the speed of Gonzalez nor the athleticism of Gates. He finally started to improve over the latter half of his career.

Not saying Bolser is Cooley, just don't count him out simply because blocking is a weakness. There are many other factors, such as finding the soft spot in coverage and getting first downs, Cooley's knack for years. Punishing defenders when they tried to tackle him as well.

have to admit...the most intriguing selection is murphy. I think Moses will do just fine - all I need is to see him handle one game against a speed rusher well and I'm all in.

Murphy? I see a high up side...and definite average possibility as well once he's in with the big boys who are all great athletes and fast. I think he'll be a nice add - when Rak, Kerrigan, Hatcher and he are all on the field. as a replacement for Rak? not so sure. no data to work with at this point, obviously, but that is what I really think needs to be determined this season. can he play at as high or higher level - in Rak's role - when Rak isn't on the field.

I love Paulsen, and I want him on the team.

However, did you hear Gruden's response when he was asked what he wanted in ST players? "We need big guys who can run down the field quickly." Bolser certainly fits that bill.

And when asked what he liked about Bolser, he said he looked like a "War Daddy" running down the field on ST. I believe that's why he was drafted, instead of say.....another defensive lineman in the later rounds.

If you haven't seen this, here's a quick 1 minute highlight video of Bolser from last season. In addition to all of the ST tackles, take a look at how good his hands are. Particularly on the TD at the :37 mark. I wouldn't count anyone Gruden calls War Daddy" out.

He was also a team captain, and broke most of the career records for TEs at Indiana. He's no joke.
