i just enjoy watching players i know nothing about compete for spots and see some of the inner workings of an NFL team since I otherwise wouldn't get to see them at all.

T, by definition it is reality TV. It's more realistic than say the Real World/Road Rules Challenge, but it's in the same category.

And everything else that is a camera filming reality.
But you and henry and everyone else knows that 'Reality TV' is typically reserved for things like road rules, real world, big brother, survivor, etc.
Putting hard knocks in the same category of those is a joke. They're not in any way the same thing, nor do they appeal to the same people.

You're entitled to your opinion. To me, Hard Knocks is textbook reality TV; genuinely unscripted, real life docudrama. It's probably the most real show out there. Just because it happens to deal mostly with football, doesn't disqualify it. How about funny moments like Antonio Cromartie naming off his 27 children?
Anyway, it's not really important. What's important is whether the Skins are on it or not. Personally, I side with the folks who don't want the Skins on the show, because man would it create some unnecessary drama.

yes, because hard knocks producers are able to convince teams to keep certain players on the roster because they appeal to the audience despite not deserving to be there.
they also have the ability to manufacture drama to appeal to their audience.
it's not a reality tv show in any way shape or form as the phrase is usually used.

... you think the fact that chad ochocinco is one of many 'characters' in the NFL and therefore attracts attention from the cameras following the team makes it the same as kitchen nightmares - a show that's completely staged?

Wow. I didn't think this was going to spark some grand debate. I don't see any significant difference between Hard Knocks and any other reality TV show. If any of you out there do that great. Its not really a debate worth getting worked up about.
In either case I do not want the Redskins involved with that show. We're enough of a sideshow as it is.

The last thing I want is to see the Redskins on "Hard knocks"....but I would watch it. I don't like reality tv and don't care for the people that would rather be famous then respected. The Redskins could benefit greatly if they could learn how to be respected instead of just famous.
Oh yes. There are definitely aspects of the NFL I hate as much as, say, American Idol. Pretty much everything but the actual playing of the games is unnecessary drama. I've talked about this rather extensively on this board, actually. This recent draft is another perfect example. A couple hours worth of drafting stretched out into a three day soap-opera, with extraneous nonsense everywhere. Maybe next year they'll have Goodell introduce the person who will introduce the ex-player who will introduce the 'special fan' who will introduce the draft pick who will walk out to one personally-selected theme song, then switch songs for the official Noxema skin cream Goodell-selfie-moment, after which we'll find out which official non-football celebrity is wearing the player's pre-approved secretly-leaked team jersey, sponsored by Coors-Lite. Followed by a panel discussion on whether or not that player's hair was an appropriate length for the special moment.
Yes, football is reality television, but I do make an attempt to keep that sort of garbage at arm's length. Hard Knocks is part of that overall problem, in my opinion, and the Redskins being a part of that would make keeping it all at arm's length just that much more difficult. Most of the crap the league pushes on me ... I just don't care. Maybe that's just me.

I'm with you henry on all of that. I guess I just consider the hbo sports different than the NFL draft, schedule release, etc. It feels more like a documentary style thing. Just like I enjoy their winter classic series and everything else hbo sports has done.
