I also don't agree that we are "stacked" at OLB. Jackson is quality depth, but he's better in a rotation, not as the full time starter. Jenkins is a question mark at this point; up until now he hasn't done anything.

And Rak is gonna need a new contract next year, Kerrigan in two years. That problem will be here before we know it. Now is the time to start developing the replacement.

Also, look at safety; they're clearly using a bandaid solution there as well. I'd love to have ten first round picks to address every need, but we don't have that. Gotta just play the hand we're dealt.

That's just it...we are not even talking about a position of need. I am talking about one position where we have two damn good starters and a couple of solid backups. With all those needs we do have that cannot be filled in one year, you're suggesting one of our valuable draft picks be applied to a position...where we're stacked, where there is no "need", instead of starting to fill the other areas of need....that cannot all be filled in one year.

Nope, you can't fill every hole in one year. But you gotta start somewhere, and you probably shouldn't ignore the positions of need with a pick to provide another player in a position that is filled.

BB, A lot of people now expect Moses to be taken in the first. I have no idea.

And I don't see how we can trade Cousins, especially because we didn't get Pryor. Had we signed Pryor, that may have been a tell.

But Colt McCoy? Is there really even the slightest chance of starting the season with Colt McCoy as our backup? I can't see it.

Louis Nix still available is VERY intriguing. I was gung ho OT all the way, but I thought for sure Nix would be gone. We'd finally solve our NT problems once and for all...

Oh man, now I'm torn.

We seem to be in a great situation.

We should have suitors for a player like Marqise Lee, if we'd like to trade down. I bet the phones will be ringing.

Or, as Lanky said, Nix would finally fit the role of a true NT.

Or, we can also choose to go O-line.

The BBQ mocks continue as we get a closer look at the prospects. Round One of the NFL draft is history and tonight’s second and third rounds are upon us. One more mock will be posted on Saturday morning.

Round Two: Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
Moses is the latest Virginia product to continue a tradition of quality tackle prospects from President Jefferson’s university. He is a talented player who should fit in at the right tackle position.

Other Possibilities:
Xavier Su'a-Filo, G, UCLA
Gabe Jackson, G, Mississippi State
Marquise Lee, WR, Southern California
Cody Latimer, WR, Indiana

Round Three: Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska
Jean-Baptiste is a big corner who has the size that more teams like in today’s NFL. The talented Cornhusker had a superb senior season and caught the eyes of scouts with his elite skills being on display in post-season bowl games.

Other Possibilities:
Cameron Fleming, OT, Stanford
Keith McGill, CB, Utah
Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas
Weston Richburg, C, Colorado State

Round Four: Justin Ellis, DT, Louisiana Tech
In other years, Ellis would grade out as a second rounder. The deepest draft ever has him dropping to the fourth round and the Redskins get a steal at a vital position.

Other Possibilities:
Daniel McCullers, DT, Tennessee
Brent Urban, DE, Virginia
Cyril Richardson, G, Baylor
Taylor Hart, DE, Oregon

Round Five: Max Bullough, ILB, Michigan State
Bullough grades much higher, but a deep draft and a couple of issues drops him to the fifth round. The issues are behind him and the Spartan looks to replace London Fletcher.

Other Possibilities:
Will Clarke, DE, West Virginia
Jeoffrey Pagan, DE/DT, Alabama
James Hurst, OT, North Carolina
Jordan Zumwalt, ILB/OLB, UCLA

Round Six:
The Redskins trade down and receive a sixth and seventh rounder.

Round Six: Tyler Larsen, C, Utah State
One of the higher rated centers in the 2014 draft, Larsen has a nasty streak to him and provides a superb blocking in the running game. Good size, but needs a year to learn the rigors of the NFL and could be an eight to ten year starter on the line thereafter.

Beau Allen, DT, Wisconsin
DeAndre Coleman, DE/DT, California
Charles Leno, Jr., OT, Boise State

Round Seven: Shaquil Barrett, OLB, Colorado State
Barrett is a highly underrated player who simply makes good defensive plays. Check out these stats: The Mountain West defensive player of the year had twenty tackles for a loss, three blocked kicks, twelve sacks, seventy-four tackles, and was a special teams ace.

Round Seven: Jordan Najvar, TE, Baylor
He rarely got targeted by the Bears as they rarely feature tight ends in the pass happy offense. When Najvar was targeted, he produced and put up good numbers. An excellent blocker and a superior special teamer is hard to pass up in the seventh round.

I keep seeing/hearing that we can't plug all our holes this year. I disagree. I think we're a much better team than many people seem to think.

Our offense is set - if we could get a stud tackle in the first few rounds to replace Polumbus that would be great, otherwise I think we need to be focused on D line, Safety, Corner, and Linebacker - in that order.

After round 4 though, we're looking at future guys and position no longer matters. We need players we feel confident can step into a starting role in 3-4 years, and provide solid backup in the meantime, or a guy that fell that we think can be an impact player in small roles (think: 3rd down RB, 4th string WR that can return punts/kicks)

This team is finally at a point, in my opinion, where we can actually start building for a future. Picking up guys that pay dividends down the road.
 
That's just not accurate- the most important part of our offense is not set, the OL!

But you can only say that based on your opinions of the o linemen on staff.

Which may or may not be the same as others; importantly, the FO and coaching staff.

I think the full Court press to sign Donald Penn was a sign they're not happy with Turnstyler. The signing of Lavauo and McGlynn tell me they're not happy with current depth guys (Gettis, McRib), and common sense tells me they're not happy with Chester.

McGill's still there for the 4th. I like this a lot there.
 
If Michael Sam is available in the 4th round I think we should think about it. Kid can play and we need LB depth
 
Biggers was not someone who impressed at all last year. I would like to see the team bring in a young corner that can beat him out for that #4 spot and be a candidate to start in a couple of years.

Biggers is always around the ball, but he never makes any plays. No interceptions, no fumble recoveries and poor open field tackling when a guy is right there and he has a decent angle.

We keep bringing in these guys from Tampa Bay like Biggers and Tanard Jackson but they are nothing but busts here.

I don't think any of these guys have come here and made any kind of impact.
