Random Commanders Thoughts

Mike at some point you have reach out and see what is rather than what your ideal scenario would have you believe it should be.

We all have to check our assumptions from time to time to re-validate them.

I heard that after Schwartz signed with the Giants he said he couldn't wait to go get some Matzoh Ball Soup. Love that, for some reason. Maybe it's just a breath of fresh air after always seeing guys go out and always buy Rolls Royces and stuff like that after a big payday.

I know I don't want to see Doughty, Biggers, Rambo, or Gumbs out there.

While I agree, Clark's age just scares me. He's made a name for himself with the Steelers, but I'd rather gamble on a younger guy that might actually pan out for more then a season or two.

Doughty gets a bad wrap... Dude has been written off numerous times and he continues to show up. He signs 1 year deals and ends up starting at some point. Is he excellent in pass coverage? NO. Is he the fastest guy on the field? NO. He is however very consistent and intelligent. Dude might not have makeup ground speed but he does have the smarts to be in position. He's not afraid to stick his nose in on run support, and he makes tackles. I think he's been used incorrectly and STILL has found a way to stick around.

If there was a way to put Doughty's head on Merriweather's body......

I want to see Rambo out there. Would mean he's improved from his rough rookie season.

Ya, it would be nice to see some guys we drafted actually progress into contributors.

Note who's the Debbie downer? Lol

He just plays stupid.

You can't fix that at this point in his life.

I want him to work out. Goo Fudge was my #1 guy in training camp. But I saw it early on in preseason, and it only got worse.

Stephon Heyer was as strong as an ox, but dumb as a tree stump. Some people just can't play at this level. Too much going on for them.

Already giving up on a guy entering his second season?

You guys set some tough standards around here.

If they don't perform like Sean Taylor straight outta the chute, they'll never improve/learn,thus they're busts.

Tough crowd.

No - just this guy. I have tons of hope for hankerson, riley, and other guys even though they haven't done anything spectacular.

It's his style of play... his mistakes seem like... brain farts... multiple, multiple times a game. Weird stupid stuff, like hitting a guy way out of bounds or way after a whistle. Taking atrocious angles going after ball carriers... He's a less athletic, dumber version of laron landry (who I also liked a lot early on, i bought a damn jersey i'm embarrassed to wear) and I just don't see any hope for that.

Maybe I'm mistaking aggression as stupidity... but they yanked the chain on him pretty quickly if I'm remembering right, and I don't think it was because of health.

@NBCdianna #Redskins source tells me Ryan Clark will not sign despite visiting the Redskins today. #NFLFreeAgency

you need a new source. clark hasn't visited yet...

He had a tweet earlier that had some under tones suggesting he may not be interested. It was about his delayed flight and if it was a sign. He laughed about it, but...

Yeah I've seen those going around. Keim seems to think he's just going to get over a handful of offers so he'll have options.

We're not a very attractive place for anyone with options.

This is a very huge factor. One that too many don't seem to take into account.

All the top FA's want to go where they can get paid, AND have a shot with a winner. They may even take a little less for the chance at a title.

We are NOT anyone's first choice. Which means we can only overpay, to persuade guys who really don't want to be here, to come here.
You know, guys who are here only for the money. Haven't we all had enough of that?

We're gonna have to get the best possible play, out of what we can get, and give FA's, next year, reason to think we have a shot.
Making the playoffs will do it.

Can you explain why so many FAs visiting the Raider then. :uncomfortableness:

j/k I actually agree with your point but you can learn about an individual who goes to a shitty situation for the most money they can get. They rarely work out for a reason.

Raiders have a ton of money available, and will have to overpay too. They'll get mostly mercenaries. More interested in guaranteed money, than performing well.

We know that's usually not a good thing.
