Thats on my list too. Looks to be the best bourbon bar on DC. They have a lot of the Willett Very Rare bottlings too. They are some of the best and hardest to find bourbons on the planet.

It seems to my novice eye that they have the best collection. I've been to Bourbon, Smoke and Barrel, and Irish Whiskey Public House. The Irish place really opened my eyes to Irish whiskeys (What? There's more than Jameson out there?) and the bartender really seemed to know what he was talking about. Funny though, he was actually from Scotland!

So what would you pay to try one of those very rare bourbons?

Up to 60 to 70 a pour depending on rarity. My friend and I visited the whisky attic in Las Vegas and had a combined tab around $800.

I like the Irish too, my current favorite is Redbeast 12 Cask Strength.

Another whisky public service announcement. SanFrancisco Wine Trading Company has Willet Rare Release 4 year old Rye on sale for $44.98 a bottle plus shipping. At this price you should have a bottle. Any time you see this Willett label, the Rare Release one, buy it if it's under $400 dollars.

The story on Rare Release is the only way to get a bottle is to purchase a Barrel. So stores would purchase a barrel take the bottles from it and sell them. Thats why you so rarely see them in liquor stores.

So I was driving in WV Wednesday and noticed some signage for a distillery in Greenbrier County, and considering there is also a winery we have wanted to try, I thought I might take the wife to the Greenbrier for a few nights and explore the alcohol over that way. Any suggestions for a novice?

Beware upstart distilleries. Unlike beer whisky has to be aged correctly and nothing but time, location, and knowledge can accomplish that. Enjoy your day and it will be cool of they show you the process, but don't expect much in the form of their product.

Another public service Bulletin. Hi Time Wine Cellars has Jeffersons Presidential Bourbons available. They are $149 and $199 a bottle. The former being 21 year old the latter 25. I just ordered a 25 for my bunker. Already have a bunch of the 21. These price are within reason for these bourbons. Link to 21 year Old

If you can find it I can't stress enough try Stagg Jr. It is the best bang for the buck out there right now. If you do find it and are not used to higher proofs straight, ice it and let that melt in a little before drinking. Then when you get used to that try some straight.

Review I found online of Jefferson's Presidential Select 25 and 30 bourbons. I'll be able to give you a first hand one on the 25 in a few weeks.

Yes, $139.99 is retail and I liked the 21 so much I bought 6 bottles.

Jr is an anomaly, you will never again see a bourbon that cheap that good. Why do you think I bought 16 bottles. And I might not be done yet.
