Went to the early services at church this morning. The younger preacher usually preaches the early morning sermon and today was no exception. He is a huge football fan and will incorporate a football story or two into his lesson now and then. Today was no different and he focused on relationships/trust, then mentioned the dysfunction around the Redskins as an example.

Ugh. We're a laughingstock everywhere you go.
 
Hey guys, I'm stuck in the airport and can't get anything but the NFL play by play for stats, I would like to hear good and bad...mostly how Cousins looked other than what I see in stats. I understand he had some turnovers, but were they his fault? Was the pass protection so poor he rushed throws?

He played like a guy who isn't hearing the footsteps, so in that way, yes, that was different.

On the other hand he doesn't throw the ball nearly as well so even when he makes a good decision, if he makes a bad throw it's a pick. With this offense and this line and these WRs ... Cousins will throw a lot of them.

And lastly, I think we can all see that QB isn't the problem here. We just lost to a 3-10 team ... well, a 4-10 team. Against a similarly craptacular Vikings team, Griffin looked great for a half of a game as well, throwing 3 TDs and no picks as well as rushing for 44 yards. The team put up almost exactly the same amount of points ... and lost.

yep this game solidified it.. I have a serious case of the I-Don't-Give-a-Craps.

Was a fun game to watch since I've lost my ability to get mad at them anymore. Kinda liked that he went for it... No more time for one of our players to get hurt. Meh.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to bash Griff. The big difference to me between the two is: One had a regular offseason, the other did not.

That and Griff only looks to throw to #11 when it's a go route. Kirk is equal opportunity no matter what route it is.

All these things get worked out when Griff has a regular offseason to hone his craft and the team addresses the Oline...specifically RG and RT.
 
All this game showed is that Kirk is a damn good young QB.

And Griff is not the reason we're 3-11.

I'm glad Kirk played as well as can be expected.

But Robert Griffin III is the best QB we have.

Which was RG3's 9th or 10th game this year and 25+ overall.

This was Cousins 2nd ever start and 1st this year and its late in the year when everybody else had 13 games of progression. He hit everybody in stride for the most part and receivers were getting YAC. Haven't seen that all year.

I think Cousins looked great considering the situation while RG3's first 5 starts this season he put up 0 points in the first half of any game.
 
I don't know, it felt different to me.

What did we have; 5 plays of 20+ yards? Cousins hitting WR's deep and in stride. Hitting OPEN receivers and even some in tight coverage. He credited the OLine with giving him time to get to his 3rd & 4th progressions. And here's a big one: only ONE sack surrendered.

I think we saw something that we haven't seen in a while (along with Alf laying the ball on the carpet twice) and that is the big play capability of the offense when things begin clicking. Unfortunately for us, this is the best offense we've had here in a while and it will be gone very soon.

Cousin's average game is better than 12/13ths of RG3's this year at least.

Cousins making a couple bone headed throws under pressure in his 2nd start isn't even worth mentioning compared to RG3 not even being able to find receivers, move into the pocket, feel and evade pressure, get rid of the ball, hit receivers in stride, etc. in close to 30 starts. I'm sure Shanahan looks at this tape and sees a QB that actually sees whats in front of him and can get rid of the ball making a play most of the time, unlike when RG3 was in there. RG3 needs that run threat to do anything, while Cousins did without a running game at all for most of the game and kept moving the ball, putting up tons of yards and scoring alot of points despite 5 fumbles. We'd have scored 40 easy without 1/2 those turnovers.

Most yards in a game this season.

Tied for most TDs in a game this season.

He came in, and played just as well or better than RG3's best game this season.

So either RG3's best game was only average this season, and most of his games sucked, or Cousins had a great game today. It's pretty easy.
