LOL. There's always a segment of our fan base in denial. RG3's yardage totals for just the last 5 weeks:

164, 207, 118, 264 and 281.

By definition, there was nothing average about 381 yards. It was a refreshing change.

So either he had a great game, or he had just an average game, and RG3 had terrible games.

Maybe both statements are true?

from quarterback i saw quick throws, quick reads, and a guy that fundamentally knew where everyone was on the field.

that was a refreshing change from the quarterback position. it made me 100% sure i back the shut down, griffin was playing very poorly and getting worse and today showed how the offense should be run.

the rest of the team sucked which was really disappointing but expected. the problem clearly isn't just griffin, it's team wide. 7 turnovers? special teams' idea of a good game is minimizing ****ups, and defense still can't cover consistently or tackle consistently. not problems expected in week 15 of year 4.

what we saw today is that cousins might legitimately be worth a solid 2nd round pick in the offseason, maybe even add in a lower round one. they might actually get that, if he plays like this the next two games.

RG3 is definitely more athletic, and has the bigger arm. He also takes more violent hits.

Kirk sees the field better, stares down receivers less and distributes the ball more. Aldrick Robinson actually looked like a real WR today. That's a big step forward.

RG3 just needs to study this offseason, and hope that it all comes together.

Cousins has now thrown for 329/2 and 381/3 in his two NFL starts separated over 2 seasons.

One would have to agree we would need to see him over 16 games to determine if the sample size is validated or whether Cousins is a guy that becomes less effective the more teams see of him in the offense.

But, let's not discount the kid either.

I remember back in 1994 we drafted Heath Shuler and Gus Frereotte and the team refused to accept that the seventh round pick was simply a better NFL quarterback than Shuler for the better part of 2-3 years. No one wanted to admit the mistake with choosing Shuler with a high pick.

A couple of years later we had Trent Green here as the #3 quarterback behind Gus and Jeff Hostetler. Norv didn't let him play until the team was 0-7 in 1998. Green helped the team go 6-3 over the last 9 games, but he ended up leaving in free agency and going on to be a 4 time pro bowler with the Chiefs.

We need to ensure we are not going to make the same kind of mistake and rush to judgment.

Griffin's contract is not like Bradford's where he received $50M in guaranteed money. You could conceivably part ways with him after Year 4 at reasonable dollars.

I am not saying that is what we are going to do or should do.

But I don't want to see Cousins dealt off for a #2 pick and then have him become a Trent Green or Drew Brees type player somewhere else.

We still have to see how well he recovers. If his speed and mobility don't improve, then something else has to.

Wow...our fans seem to have a short memory.

Last year, RGIII was pretty ****ing perfect. And, because of an injury and poor play around him (btw, dropped passes and fumbles abounded today, too), many are willing to throw RGIII under the bus.

Cousins looked okay, but those INTs aren't going to make you a champion...especially against a poor defense.

And, WTF was Shanny doing going for 2?

It's one game from a guy that's been chilling on the bench. He's not a threat to Griffin. Cousins can have a good game and it not be a big deal.

Going for 2 was a "Well, do we really need to go to overtime in this game?" kind of move and I loved it. We needed 2 yards. We didn't get it.

brian orakpo's lack of presence in meaningful games at the start of the year compared to his flashy play in meaningless games at the end of the year is going to present the most interesting player move this coming offseason.

Yes, we can appreciate 2012, but we can also admit that Griffin has not been the same player in 2013. What happened in 2012 with the read option taking the NFL by storm and surprising teams is not going to happen again. Other guys like Kaepernick that used the read option have also suffered tougher sledding this season against better defenses.

Griffin says he wants to become a pocket passer. For that to happen he is going to have to overcome a lot of bad habits from backing up and throwing off balance to being unable to read basic coverages and anticipate where WRs are going to run based on how the defense plays them.

So, in that situation and with that much to learn, he may no longer be that far ahead of Cousins.

Drafting two potential starting qbs in one draft was a lose/lose.

Shanny is an idiot. I'm sure San Diego fans just die everytime they see Brees go to the playoffs.

He has improved. His o-line has regressed. I've never seen so many blitzing guys come in untouched. It happened a lot today. Not even nicked.

And, did I mention more dropped balls, more fumbles.

What did improve today, for the most part, was field position. But, our STs are SCARY.

He's not improved. Not even close.

His accuracy was amazing last year. He doesn't have that back yet.

What we need is January.

If the season is over and Mike doesn't want to play another 15 minutes of overtime to get a win they might as well bring Rex Grossman back and let him start the last 2 games.

At least then we will be getting something for the $1M we have invested in a quarterback that has been watching games eating potato chips for most of the season.

He's been mostly high...that's a product of his plant leg not being what it was.

I agree. We have to hope that's temporary. But I wouldn't say he's improved.

IMO, his bad play has been due to an offseason spent rehabbing instead of working on mechanics.

Plus, he's so hesitant at times because he doesn't trust his body mentally. His head is all screwed up.

Hopefully, he gets things righted with a normal offseason.
