For me - I don't know if it was or wasn't. I'm not going to base that on one year (last year.)

he's sucked this year.

we'll see going forward how good he is and what he does. we traded a boat load of picks for him, and so far we had a great 7 game run last year and a boat load of drama this year.

lots of time to turn it around.

or for it to get worse.

i'm thinking he'll wind up being great, but i'm far from sold on the idea that it's inevitable though.
 
I don't see how Shanny and son get a whole lot of sympathy...The team has a lot of holes but there are enough pieces there to field a solid 8-8 team. I was understanding that Bruce Allen would be the Gm with a veto. It didn't look like Mike and Kyle were ducking the spotlight when things were going well from Thanksgiving on. Outside of the worst special teams in league history...and the worst redzone defense in league history the team has fared quite well...well if we don't count the epic fail we use as our oline. It's really tough to come up with any positives with any of the coaches. RB coach is about all I have, I don't even know his name. This most likely will come across as incoherent babbling....Us fans have the same owner and Griffin,Morris, Reed and Garcon. Everything else up in the air. There are many coaches that would want to come here and build around those 4 and a pretty good Left tackle as well. I give the coaching staff a solid F this season.

Personally, I am not. I remain convinced that this whole nightmare is going to be a brief hiccup in Griff's career. As someone else said, Griff and Snyder's relationship is not the real problem here. The real problem is that the team sucks and isn't winning. Winning is a great deodorant, and because we aren't winning, all these problems are coming to light.

The fact that we aren't winning can be laid at the feet of Shanahan alone. He built this team and its OLine deficiencies, insisted on the 3-4 that we weren't ready for and still don't have all the pieces to run, and many other problems. That's on him. If I had to rank all of our problems in order of importance, I would say the OLine is at the top of the list, which is completely and totally Mike's fault.

Griff and Snyder hanging out together is either #79 or #80.

That's fine. And to add to it he's coming off a serious knee injury.

But I've seen him pull the ball and run when he shouldn't have. I've seen him not throw to wide open receivers. I've seen him throw the ball 20 feet over people's heads, or straight into the dirt. I've seen him air out passes into triple coverage when it was 3rd and short.

Griffin has almost every excuse in the book for why this season has been bad. He's also just flat out played bad quite often.
 
Yeah, and the fact that Polumbus wasn't benched should tell you what you need to know about how shitty our depth is, which is also a reflection on Shanny.

He's been throwing like that regardless of pressure.

Though he's been getting significantly better through the season. I thought a week or two ago he had his best passing performance accuracy wise, and it was the rest of the team that caused the loss.
 
We saw last year, even aside from the dramatic running ability, just how deadly accurate and effective Griff can be. Most impressive - his lack of mistakes. He wasn't named ROY because of his great Subway commercials or because he's drinking buddies with Dan Snyder.

He's coming off major surgery, he's been pummeled beyond belief this year, and he gets almost no help around him (other than Almo).

My bet is that, with some actual talent added around him and a coaching staff that figures out how to create an offensive package he can learn in and that takes advantage of his strengths while not sacrificing his body every other play, he looks a lot more like the year 1 version down the road.

I still believe he is the real deal.

You take the hits he has taken and tell me you aren't going to be skittish, that it's not going to effect your decision-making and overall performance.

That's fine, it doesn't change the fact that it's happening.

You can add to the list of his problems his serious lack of pocket presence and ability to go through progressions (though he looked really good last week, again, despite the rest of the team's performance)

Maybe the best thing to do is to sit him so Shanahan can't further damage him for whoever our next coach is.

While I agree with your sentiment, I have to remind you that Griffin himself is the one who consistently sacrificed his body. The man still doesn't know how to slide properly. It's in his nature (Competitive) to go for more.

But Cousins isn't a head case. I'm pretty much convinced now that RGMe is, for whatever reason. Cousins is seviceable. Get the headcase out of town and get some pieces for a football team

And btw, the idea that we spent a king's ransom for a franchise QB but now should dump him in year 2 for 'whatever we can get' because he's had a bad year and is *supposedly* a 'prima donna' - I think that's a really odd idea Sarge.
 
For me personally I'm not as worried about his play but more his attitude. Luck, or even Payton would be in the damn hospital behind our putrid ass line.

My fingers are crossed Bob hasn't divided the lockeroom over anything. I obviously have no proof other than his teammates are correcting his post game presser quotes and that shitty line won't even help him up after getting smashed.
 
They help him up all the time.

It's a shame that this fallacy is repeated so much.

I'm only going on the "assumption" that that he has turned into a prima dona, whether by the danny or by himself. If that is the case, we need a coach that will put his foot down on him, which Shanny seems either unwilling or unable to do. But the fact that no one is helping him up these days seems telling, kinda when they let Brunell get dragged aroudn in that Dallas game eons ago. Mind you, I think if someone rides herd on him, he can be great, especailly if we can get a line to protect him. But if he has indeed turned into an unchecked head case, tehn it's time to cut our losses and get some stability in there
 
Cousins didn't look great yesterday. I'm not sure I want him playing anymore because it might damage his trade value.

The Redskins' coaching staff is still going through its normal Monday routine as of now. Nothing different about the start of the work-week.
