Of course it was calculated. It was effective too, I thought. Those screaming loudest about the name change would have you believe that the vast majority of Native Americans are appalled by the name "Redskins" and consider it offensive and oppressive. Very quietly and in a dignified manner, a clear message was sent that there are more than a few Native Americans who not only aren't bothered by the name, but actually embrace it.

The team is getting absolutely lambasted and attacked from every angle on the topic, and you find it outrageous that they try and respond with some positive PR?

Mike Greenberg stayed on Mike & Mike this morning that the Redskjns name is 'obviously offensive to EVERYONE', which is just a ridiculous and patently false statement, yet he says it like its common knowledge and it goes totally unchallenged. Ridiculous!

Those men were extremely honored to be there last night. Before they were paraded out by the team, they were assembled right in front of me on the the sidelines. You could see the pride in their faces. I was just a few feet away from them. It was obviouys they felt honored, not used like a pawn in the grand scheme. Who are you to suggest this was a bad PR move? These men were glad to be there and I would wager they don't give a rat's ass about the name. There was a video piece on the big screen of these men thanking the Washington Redskins as they were on the field with thousands cheering for them!

Well, without getting into the whole argument yet again, this type of move completely misses the point, IMO. But I'm glad at least one other person saw through Snyder's motives.

Never said that...but until I see definitive proof that Halbritter is the only one "on the other side" saying anything, then I'll agree with you and drop the whole thing. Halbritter has never been the rational for my stance and never will be. I think he's a conniving, scheming weasel, jumping on a social issue for personal gain. But make no mistake, it IS a social issue, and not just to Halbritter.

That's not my assertion at all. My guess would be that they were Skins fans who jumped at the opportunity to be honored on the field for a MNF game.

If you are asserting that it was a manipulative PR move, and they were the ones used for it, you are directly asserting that they allowed themselves to be used, are in cahoots with the user, or are naive to it.

When you make those sort of assertions, especially that people like that are used, you are also saying derogatory things about the people implied to be used. One needs to be careful when grinding their axe.
