The Legend
Sorry to jump in on the tail end here, but I need to clean up my deleted and sent folder on my work OWA. Is there a quick, easy way to grab all the messages and save them to my hard drive so I can access them if necessary?
Tshile, got a question.
Tshile, got a question. I'm about to stop dragging my feet and join the wild, wacky world of Windows 8 via a new laptop (most likely HP Pavilion, 3rd gen Corei3 (Ivy Bridge), 6GB DDR3 ram, 750Gig HD, 17.3 in. screen-nothing fancy or powerful but decent and currently at "You stole this thing" prices)
My question is, so far, how is MSE looking as a piece of security software? I've used Avast for several years now and the newer versions have done a creditable job of keeping me virus-free and, as I mentioned elsewhere, I use Malwareytes, Super Anti Spyware, Advanced System Care, among other tools and am careful when I wander online but I've seen reviewers say complimentary things about MSE and wanted to hear your-and anyone else's for that matter-thoughts on it's effectiveness versus continuing with another anti-virus program.

do you ONLY check your email from the web access or do you have an Outlook account set up some place?

I would suggest you get an i5 but that's just my opinion. Cost may make it not an option, or you may want the increased battery life (i believe the i3 has better life over i5?), or it may not be an option with the deal you get. I've been hearing better things about the i3 lately, so maybe it's a much better product now.
As for MSE...
It's actually built into Window 8 so you don't need anything else if you want to use that. It's what I use. I like it. That said....
MSE lost its accreditation as an antivirus product 6 months or so ago. (they my have gotten it back?) when you look at the report and the numbers it doesn't look that bad but I feel obligated to mention it. I can't 'recommend' MSE because of that, but I can tell you it is what my computers use.![]()
Ever since I got Thunderbird, I've been getting malicious spam emails, that only show up in my emails in Thunderbird, and not in the corresponding online email account.
And as soon as they appear in Thunderbird in the download, without me even clicking on the email, my Avast alerts me that it detected a malicious email.
What's more disturbing is they are coming frequently now in email accounts that never used to get much spam, and they are also going straight to the Inbox, not the Spam folder.
But what's most odd is that they only appear in Thunderbird. The exact email never appears in my online account. Which leads me to believe that Mozilla/Thunderbird is whoring out my email address to spammers.
Is that "Mail-washer" program the best solution to this ?
