2010 Draft Order (Redskins Pick 4th) - updated 1/18

And yet I have heard Peter King report that at least 2 NFL teams have said he won't get by them in the 1st round and they consider him a QB prospect.

Interesting. Always fun to watch and see how these things play out.

Tebow is a guy I’ve been down on because of all of the reasons that everyone else is down on the guy. The cynic in me says the guy simply doesn’t have the right set of tools to be an NFL QB. The speed angle I’m not especially worried about, but the arm issue is real and not having run a pro style offense isn’t comforting either.

He might project better as a TE or a FB at the pro level. Still, I wouldn’t count the guy out when it comes to becoming an NFL QB at some point. He is a leader and that factor cannot be understated. A lot of people pay lip service to leadership, but there are few actual leaders even on the NFL level. There is real value in that. I also have no doubt regarding his work ethic. Will those factors be enough to allow him to overcome his limitations? I don’t know. I know I’d feel better about Tebow than I would about a guy who put up great numbers in a run and shoot type offense (sorry Colt).

If the Redskins draft a corner in Round 1 I am going to throw up.

This team has spent the better part of the past 6 years putzing around adding corners and safeties in the offseason.

Rogers, Taylor, Landry, Archuleta, Hall, etc.

Meanwhile the 'bread and butter' positions have largely been ignored.

Finally in 2009 the team selected Orakpo and Jarmon to stop the craziness.

While the DL looks stabilized assuming Haynesworth isn't going to eat himself out of the league, the team needs to consider OT, OG, SAM, as well as the offensive backfield where youth and speed are severely lacking.

Again, no change in the Top 5 so the Skins still have the 5th pick.

I have never been a fan of watching my team lose to garner a better draft position. I want to see the Skins win! However, this year I am inclined to agree with the sad, yet accurate assessment Boone has suggested, play well enough to be respected but in the end lose to give Snyder the eye opener needed to rid himself and this organization of the poor excuse for a GM or whatever you want to call it in Vinny Cerrato while positioning this team for a better pick.

Well, with a win against the Raiders this weekend, we will lose 3 spots in the draft order. I see the Redskins going into Oakland and putting a pretty good whooping on the Raiders. I also see us coming home to play tough against the Giants and I definitely see us beating the Cowgirls.

As it stands now, we have a slim chance to go after Okung, but it looks like we will win a couple more games pushing us down to about the 8 or 9 slot by the end of the year.

I am not quite sure what to think.

I just saw something that said people are predicting Tebow falls to the 4th round. Can't remember where I saw it...I will try to find it.

So, here's my Redskins draft prediction:

Round 1: QB
Round 2: RB
Round 3: Jarmon
Round 4: CB
Round 5: WR
Round 6: traded for Taylor
Round 7: undersized, slow OG/OC/OT who won't make it off the practice squad

Isn't Tebow's ass about he height of the danny's head?

IF, God forbid, Vinny stays then I see it this way.

Round 1: QB
Round 2: OL
Round 3: Jarmon
Round 4: DB
Round 5: OL (a reach that, like most of our 5th rounders, won't make the team)
Round 6: traded for Taylor
Round 7: RB

How I want it to play out:

Round 1: OL
Round 2: OL
Round 3: Jarmon
Round 4: DB
Round 5: QB
Round 6: traded for Taylor
Round 7: RB

If I had my way......

1st OL
2nd OL
3rd Jarmon (happy about this pick)
4th: pick one- SLB/DB/DT/RB/OL, BPA of those positions
5th: one of the above positions again BPA would be fine with me
6th: Taylor (stupid move)
7th: probably a LB or a DB, somebody to develop and play STs.

Of course if Campbell and Rogers are RFAs I would hope we tender them and get some decent picks for them.

I also think the team should go after a few blue collar players in FA, like a solid #2/nickle CB, another DT, another guard or two, center, strong side LB, QB.....no big FAs but solid guys who can play hard and spot start if need be.

Kinda makes the release of Dixon look like another brilliant move by the FO in DC, huh? Of course this is an extreme example of sarcasm!

I would have kept Dixon and dropped Montgomery, especially considering the coaching staff seems so down on him.

Williams is starting to look like he might be the answer at RG. Of course, Rinehart looked good the last game and a half he played too. Maybe a good sign there...some quality depth regardless of which way we go.

Washington drops to 6th after beating the Raiders this week. I know there will be some question about why the Skins are still picking ahead of Oakland after beating them head to head. Draft order is determined by Strength of Schedule and head to head play does not enter into it. At the moment, Washington's opponents have a 43% winning percentage and Oakland's opponents have a 54% winning percentage which explains the draft order.

So more or less: Tampa, StL, KC and Detroit's continuing suckage while not allowing us to enter the top 5 still helps in tie breakers.

Good to know.

I think Okung will be hard to get past the 4 or 5 spot.
Detroit should look at LT and I'm pretty sure KC will aim that way as well.

Will Trent Williams be an elite LT? And will he even be there if we're 6 or 7th?

I'm not convinced that Fox or Bruce Campbell (if he enters the draft) will be worth that high a pick......

So what do we do?
Take a QB? You wonder who will be left after Cleveland and St.Louis take their picks.

Trade out, maybe would be a good option........

I was counting on us being behind Oakland beacuase of the head to head. Thanks for clarifying. We are still close enough to either trade down or hopefull have a shot at Russel Okung.

If Okung is not there, we need to trade down a few spots and pick up an extra 2nd round pick and pick up 2-3 good OL. That would be a dream scenario for me.

Campbell has played well enough that I think priority is fixing the line and than next year draft a QB if we need to.

It's official Bruce Campbell* (groovy) is also entering the draft.

so now it looks like there may be 2 top tier LTs in the draft.

Good news for us guys begging the Skins to draft some O-linemen.

Also,
I like Walter Football's current 3 round mock:
1st: Bruce Campbell (I'd rather have Okung, but he's going to KC in the mock)
2nd: Javid Best, RB Cal

* The groovy reference is to the Evil Dead/ Army of Darkness films starring Bruce Campbell.

Expect me to use this when I'm talking about him.

Lets hope Allen shops smart.

Shop S-Mart :)

Now gimme some sugar baby...
