Been kinda busting my ass on this boat for months and months to get it in better shape. I was handed a real turd sandwich when I came out here last year. I just finally got it to the point where its in shape where I can cruise a little (very little) and I get a text @9:47pm last night to "have it show-ready for a potential buyer tomorrow AM."
A.) Its for sale?
B.) Its 9:47 on Saturday night?
C.) Respectfully go **** yourself
So I cool down and then clean up a bit. Get up early and clean up a bit more, afterall I live here, so yeah my area needs tidying up because the owners never go anywhere near it but potential buyers and brokers will.
Its 1:17pm and not so much as a phone call yet. Someone is gonna get an ear full later today and someone else might have the time he needs to ride cross country on his new bike. Jus' sayin.

Oh yeah... I bought a bike like the ones I've been looking at for a while. I pick it up next week.

I think we spoke about bikes a few times in the past. Been a while (15+yrs) since I owned a bike and I've been living on boats much of the last decade so there's that. This bike is a 2010 fz1 with 4k on it. When I'm done out here I plan on bouncing around the country for a couple few months and see some of the states that have no coastline and/or some of the ones that do that I haven't seen. Maybe I'm gonna bag this thing out so I can travel or maybe I'll buy something else for the trip...we'll see.
Point is I wanted to get riding again and this was the most upright sport bike that I found to my liking and price range. I really look forward to tearing up the mountains in CA with it for the next few months before I decide how much longer I wanna be in CA. Wanna do a trip to Vegas soon and just fool around a little with it. Maybe it won't be comfortable enough for the distance I wanna cover but it'll be fun out here.
I'd like something a little more mature, but that comes at a higher pricetag I'm not exactly sure I wanna pay yet. It freaking never rains outs here, so not having a bike is a crime to me right now.
My memory isn't as good some days as others, but ya, I think we have hit the subject.
That's a fairly comfortable bike. We have a used FZ8 at the shop right now, It was a nice bike to ride. Some soft luggage, and that bike tours just fine, and it has more then enough power. Close friend just moved to ca (Exeter), and his bike just got there. What I'd give to live at the base of the Sierra's.....

So, back on subject... I think I'm coming to the end of it, and it has me a bit worried. In roughly the past 3 years, I've had surgery 6 times, with 4 of them solely to keep me doing my job. At 52, my body isn't holding up so well. I always joke that I was a horse, I'd be glue by now.
What has me worried is I figured I'd have more time, in which I could retrain, or go back to school, then make the change. I figured I could make it to 60. People plan, and God laughs as they say....
It's a fight every day, and by the weekend, I'm useless. It's taking the two days off to recoup, which isn't helping when the house always needs things done. The job market sucks when you're a tradesmen, and have to walk away, and the earning potential for entry level jobs isn't too good. Like most, I just can't retire at this point. While we could live on the one income, it wouldn't be as comfortable as we are use to. Not that we are high rollers. We live a modest life generally.
Not looking for sympathy, just quietly venting my frustrations. My job is exactly what I want, and love what I do. Even tried to switch from service to parts to stay in the business, but the management wouldn't have any part of that.... I'm way too valuable in the shop. Sad part is, the service manager loved the idea because our parts department is a complete disaster.

You know what's more fun than insane amounts of hours of physical labor every week? Doing it in 90+ heat every day. The only positives to my job are the pay and the fact I couldn't have hand picked a more awesome group of people to work with. The people definitely make it a lot more tolerable. It's like hanging out with your friends for 12 hours, only while doing really ****ty excruciating work the whole time

It was a good Thursday at work. Knocked an executive town hall presentation out of the park and was complimented on another assignment where I was covering for my Boss's normal duties while he was away on vacation. The best part is that they said I did it better! LOL

So...over the last several weeks I have been showered with praise at work. In the last 2 staff meetings (once a month), agents and the boss continue to say how great my images are, but more importantly how much the clients absolutely love me...I have even gotten emails from clients with the boss attached to thank me for such a wonderful job. Yes, this curmudgeon has some personality in person. The boss loves that, so he has started to bring me along when he meets with clients, essentially to show me off since he is the only realtor in this area who staffs their own photographer.
Next month, my images will be featured in Luxury Home magazine. I have had images in that publication already, but now they are going to give me the credit for the images, not the "Team". My name will appear next to the images...talk about exposure.
The petty office issues I had in the beginning of the year have been resolved. There was a virus that attacked our system at work again and this time I could not be blamed! LOL!
Edit: Oh yeah...in appreciation for a job well done, I will be going to the Capitol Grille tonight for dinner with the wife, compliments of the boss. And he gave me his season tickets for tonight's game against Boston. I was supposed to go to the Nats game a couple of weeks ago but was entirely too busy. And Monday after the business meeting, the big man walked over and slid a rather large wad of $100 bills into my hand. Don't mean to brag guys, but it feels real good to be here. I was discussing this with Mike the other day...it's a far cry from where I was for the 2 years prior to starting this job...2 years out of work and a miserable back surgery.

Me.... popped a rib cartilage early in the day. Pain is pretty intense right now after a full day normal duties.

god damnit
when you quit a company don't go delete all your emails. it's backed up, and most of you aren't smart enough (in the computer sense, of course) to actually delete your emails (you leave the local database on your machine - http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/o...es-pst-and-ost-HA010354876.aspx#_Toc290027730), so all it does is cause me to have to do extra work to archive your account.

LMAO...the bane of every office's existence, Mr. EmptyPot. I've been going to Starbucks downstairs for 3 years now, because the office coffee is so terrible, so its not an issue for me. But yeah, super annoying.

I normally make my own at home and bring it because I like the coffee I buy and this office makes Foldgers which I find gross. But I'm out at home, haven't had time to go shopping, so I'm subject to the office coffee.
So normally I could give two you know whats if the pot is left empty.

Happenstance has me applying for both a new leadership role within my current company as well as a great role with Price Waterhouse Cooper.
I'll be fine if neither pan out but I sure would appreciate a change in career lately. getting burnt out quickly.
