Great Movies That Others Might Enjoy, Or Ones To Avoid

Yeah, my son and I saw it yesterday...amazing in IMAX... A little thin on the plot but love this cast. I'd love if they took this cast and revived the weekly series...immediate hit!

I'd watch it and though I enjoyed the show, I never would've referred to myself as a "trekkie".


The Abrams run at it has been excellent overall IMHO. They did incredible with the casting and connecting the writing to details from the series and previous movies.

if you get a chance to catch that, i thought it was a good movie. it's a romantic comedy, and the romantic part of it is as about as predictable as they come, but i thought the overall story was cool.

I read the book a long while back and there isnt a main character in it like they implemented with the movie (Brad Pitt I think/) It was literally just a collection of diary style entries and/or interviews with people who went through the whole thing.

The movie is a really interesting twist on the book, but I can see how it could work.

Nightmare fuel. Seriously...the only thing that makes zombies not the scariest thing ever is that they're slow & stupid. I couldn't sleep for a week after 'I am Legend' or '28 Days Later.' Christ.

Watched Monsters U last night with the two little ones. Loved it. Monsters Inc is probably my favorite Pixar movie, and this new one didn't have the same level of heart in as the original, but still really well done.

For those that have seen it, the animation on the scene by the lake was incredible, quite possibly the best animated scene I have ever seen.

I finally saw "42," and I thought it was only okay. I got the same feeling watching it that I did watching "Crash" - they were using racism for shock value at the expense of other things, like character development. No characters really develop outside of Jackie, and even he doesn't really have much character development. They did do a good job of showing his teammates going from hatred to support. All in all I would recommend it as an important story, but I don't think it was fantastic or anything.

The Expendables Three cast is very impressive (set for release next summer): Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, and Mel Gibson.

Think there will be any action scenes???

Rented "The Place Beyond the Pines" and "Now You See Me" this past weekend. PBP was not at all what I expected, but a quality flick. NYSM is entertaining as well...neither will win any oscars, but both are worth $1.20 at Redbox.

"Gravity" in IMAX 3D was a true masterpiece. I don't throw that term around often, but it was fantastic. Cuarón is sure to win the Oscar for best director, and it will win for cinematography as well. Visually stunning, gripping, and all-around amazing. I can't recommend this movie enough, but be sure to see it in at least 3D, IMAX if you've got one nearby.

Parkland was intense, great movie from differing perspectives, it gives a feel of those who experienced things from living with a traumatic historical event in a context I don't think anyone really thinks of.
