Great Movies That Others Might Enjoy, Or Ones To Avoid

Watched "Playing Forr Keeps" on DirecTV rental tonight. Sucked. Going to bed now.

Ok so if you're into classic style horror go sea the Evil Dead.

I haven't really "liked" a horror style flick in a long time but this one made me jump a few times, laugh at the crowd's reactions a few times and actually gasp at the level of gore that an R rating will allow.

Now obviously this isn't for everybody but I've been dissapointed by just about every horror movie I've seen in the last 20 years. I left the theatre with a smile last night. That was just good filthy guilty pleasure. No real gimmicks, just a decent story, a few good effects, good cinematography and adequate (not over the top) acting. Ok well some of it was over the top, I guess that's what makes it horror.

Let me know if anyone see this and dislikes it.

Just watched Ice Age 4 Continental Drift with my daughter, cute movie.

I know that Mike mentioned it previously, but if you haven't seen Impossible about the Thailand tsunami - very well done and as he said - intense. Kid who plays the eldest son does an amazing job. Definitely recommend.

Just saw Iron Man 3 with my son. Very enjoyable, trying to become a little more high concept this time and I thought it worked well.

Oh, and the trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness looks awesome. Definitely going next weekend.

Going to see Iron Man 3 tonight - no 3-D, but will see in 3-D this weekend probably.

Okay....so I haven't read back in this thread, so forgive me if these have been mentioned....but, I saw Iron Man 3 over the weekend and thought it was fun, although a little thin on the story side.

I saw an advance screening of Star Trek - Into Darkness last night. I must admit....it kicks some serious ass. Thought it totally crushed Iron Man and was SOOOO much better than the last Star Trek. I gotta say....I walked away feeling like that was the best movie I'd seen in a little while. Wall to wall action.....the 3d didn't pull me out like it did a bit in IM3....and the story worked well. Great villain..... Just loved it.

Iron Man is always good old fashioned eye candy, but I really enjoy the series. My son saw IM3 but I have not gotten to it yet. I'm glad to hear the latest Star Trek is a good one - I thought the first one was really great - almost perfectly cast - amazing since those characters are SO iconic. If you'd asked me before I'd seen it, I'd have sworn there was no way they could pull off a 'young Star Trek character' movie. They've almost reinvented the franchise. I have seen some trailers for the new one, but other than a lot of jumping into the void from high places, it is difficult to get a bead on what the plotline is. Looking forward to finding out even more now that I have gotten the LSF thumbs up :)

That new Star Trek looks pretty bad ass.

We were just talking about Zoe Saldana the other day, the one who plays Uwhora in the "new" movies. Love the guy playing Spock too in American Horror Story.

Yeah, "a little thin in story" is kind of perfect for IM3, but if you're there for the action, you won't be disappointed.

went to see Star Trek Into darkness with my daughters yesterday. Not bad/ Not great is how I should describe it.

For sure a better viewing for anyone who is familiar with the first movies and the series though, lots and lots of references and connection points in it.

Yeah, my son and I saw it yesterday...amazing in IMAX... A little thin on the plot but love this cast. I'd love if they took this cast and revived the weekly series...immediate hit!
