In the books there's a backstory - without the backstory there's really no reason for the torture...at least they haven't divulged it yet.

Please dont give away anything with the books. I know you haven't but I'm trying my hardest not to ruin it.

I won't. HBO is doing a good job of keeping to the books at least in spirit, if not the letter.

theon is such a prick i dont think anyone is minding his torture. If its not one of robs men i figured it may be his iron island dad's peeps, thats my guess anyways

Yeah that could be too. The wife has been reading them lately too and loves them. Some good story lines developing, like john snow and my wildling, tyrrian and sansa, red witch, ect

****SPOILER ALERT FROM THE LATEST TWO EPISODES****

There are some things they change just to limit the number of characters in the story, which is fine, because they don't affect the overall plot - in the books, Olenna plots to marry Sansa to another Tyrell, Sir Loras' other brother Willard (who has a gimpy foot due to a horse accident), but she thinks its Loras in the beginning. Not really an important plot point, so they just made it Loras. Similar things like that have happened throughout.

I thoroughly enjoyed the books so far, and they haven't really ruined the series for me. Its been long enough that I see something and go "Ohhhh yeah" and its not ruined, its still awesome!

lanky..can we not discuss the books in this thread? I plan on reading them after the show is done as well.

Sure...but I was just commenting on the inconsequential plot changes, nothing that effects the story. I'll keep them out of this thread from here on out. :)

Alright if somebody is willing to pm instead of giving it away i'd love to know what the hell happened when the red witch took Arya Stark's friend, the blacksmith. I was lost on that one.

Oh and did I miss the backstory on Mance Rayder? Was he a knights watch or something?

And Lanky couldn't agree more on the finale of Vikings being a letdown too. I mean it was okay but I was expecting something really crazy the way the promoted it.

Ah gotcha. The actor that plays Mance did a helluva job as Cesar in HBO's "Rome".

Oh and wasn't the white walker army invading the wall earlier in the season or am I retarded?

Actually Robert Baratheons bastard son.

Ned Stark was looking for him in season 1 to prove that Cercei was banging her brother, because all of Robert's bastards had dark, black hair, and all Cercei's children were ultra-blonde.

Actually Robert Baratheons bastard son.

Thanks guys. I suppose my question was did she recognize him as such or does she have some kind of voodoo in mind for a random kid?

I remember Ned going down town to check the bastard out but I thought he (Ned) was the only one who really knew.

GoT's tonight bitches.....Kaleesi and dragons are gonna go ape**** I do believe.

Also, am I the only one who thought the wildling giant was cool as hell? Wanna see some of those bastards in a scuffle.

You won't...he couldn't climb the wall.

NBC canceled "The New Normal," which was a hilarious show. Such a shame!

I think kaleesy is about to go on a tear with her new warriors. And when she asked how many slaves were in the city (like 200k or something) i think she's looking to expand her army.

OMG have you guys ever watched Veep on hbo? **** is hilarious!!!

And how!!!

I've been picking tidbits from the wife here and there but want to stay surprised for the most part. I hate when shows I love are ending their season...more of me being stingy tho.

shes so hot..and now becoming just a real badass, too

Yeah the casting department should get a shout out for the fantastic job they did with this show. Hotties and superb actors too.
