It was reported on ESPN and I’ve read several reports that former Dolphin’s wildcat formation QB (and former WVU standout) Pat White is set to sign with the Redskins later this week, possibly as soon as today.

The ESPN guys were making a lot more out of the signing than I see in it. They were saying how he fit the RGIII mold better than Cousins does and that he’s now expendable in a trade. Obviously I think that’s jumping the gun quite a bit.

First off White has not played pro ball of any sort in two years. When he did play in Miami he was not very good. His only other pro experience was with the Virginia Destroyers where he lasted a couple of months before getting cut. Compare that with what Cousins was able to do for us just last season and the idea of White just moving into the back-up role sounds even more out there.

I have no issue with bringing the guy in to see what he has left or if he can contribute, I'm just not counting on it being that much.

White doesn't make Cousins expendable but it could signal the end of the road for Grossman.

That's insane. Are people forgetting how good Cousins looked last year? I know there is a lot of regional interest in White, but give me a break. I'd like to keep Cousins around for a while then trade him before his contract is up.

The White signing strikes me as training camp fodder or, as BT said, the end of Grossman. I'm fine with either of those.

No no, ESPN, you got it wrong. It means GRIFFIN is expendable, and we're cutting HIM. GEEEEZ.

(EDIT: obligatory sarcasm smiley so people know I'm joking - :rolleyes2: )

Uh-oh.

Uh....am I making a big mistake here?

I mean....am I supposed to be taking what these media guys say as the God's honest truth and for real?

Oops.

Oh, geez, I am so sorry.

This all started for LaConfora people! LaConfora!!!!

So, would it be racist to say, "Put the White Guy in!" :)

He's an arm.

Cousins ain't going anywhere. Not this year.

Neither is The Sexy.

"The Sexy" is not under contract and seems to be looking elsewhere. White would be cheaper. Wouldn't surprise me if White was kept as the 3rd QB and was actually active on game days in certain situations.

Still too early to determine what's gonna happen but it COULD be interesting.

We carry 4 QB's for most of the offseason though, right? Especially with OTA's starting soon, we are down one (Robert) and The Sexy surely would have been scooped up by now, if anyone else was indeed interested.

I look for The Sexy to re-sign, soon. And the trio of Griffin, Cousins, and Grossman to once again occupy the roster for the 2013 season.

Yeah, he's a body for camp and for the offseason. Nothing more. Cheap way to get an athletic QB in there to run stuff the way Griffin does for practice without having to make Cousins practice all offseason with split personalities.

Who knows, maybe he impresses the staff and becomes a worthy 3rd string QB. I don't mind rolling the dice with league minimum training camp fodder.

This guy's a potential replacement for Grossman, nothing more.

Setting up a FASCINATING camp battle between Sexy and Pat White.

/sarcasm

Well done, Axman although I still think you have The Sexy on speed dial. ;)

My thoughts exactly, we have a guy in camp to let our D get more attuned to a running QB
