Severe/Extreme/Unusual Weather Thread

The Mid Atlantic and Northeast is looking at a major snowstorm on Friday and into Friday night. Waiting for the next few model runs to nail down the timing and amounts.
 
My Dad up in Syracuse is getting white out slammed as we speak. I cant say I miss that part about living up there!
 
With the amount of storms that early on are labeled as "major" and then don't pan out, I'm translating that to mean we'll (in the DC area) get 3 inches max.
 
Man they're wrong much more than that up here. Seriously like 25% of the time.

We've had a crazy ass winter here with minimal snow and it was like 45* last week. Very strange for up here.
 
My old stomping grounds is going to get a lot of snow tomorrow and tomorrow night. On into New England too. Winter storm warnings and blizzard warnings are up for the entire northeast. Strong winds too - lots of drifting.

I'd love to be there to see it. Ah well.

For those in the path of the storm, enjoy.
 
This was supposed to miss us completely. I woke up with roads and yards covered in snow.

Here is the difference from living where I did in NJ to this area...

The Memphis area is under a winter storm watch from early tomorrow afternoon to early Friday morning. Sounds like a big storm, right? Well, we are expecting three to five inches of snow. Ok, I know that is a big deal here, but I am laughing about it.

That being said, this is very unusual for late March in this area. Eh, it will melt away by Friday afternoon. I can't wait to see the school cancellations and how everyone reacts around here.

I saw 3 flakes of snow. Going to close so can get to store before all the bread is gone. :)
 
they're calling for more snow this week. weird we're getting it so late.

I like these late season snows. It's not enough to really shut anything down, or enough I have to shovel cause I know it'll melt as soon as the sun comes out, but it's enough for me to enjoy.
 
Sure, but the school systems are a bunch of ****ies. My wife now will be working on Memorial Day because we used too many snow days. Some of the snow days were completely justifiable, but others could have easily been saved.

I guess better safe than sorry, but I hate her working on MD.
 
you say that, but the first time a bus slides off the road into a tree and an 8 year old is killed everyone is going to be demanding the jobs of everyone in the school system.

and the parents are going to want millions of dollars in compensation.

I don't blame the schools anymore.
 
You say THAT, and I'm telling you, I drive around this county for a living, and there were days that could easily have been saved, no risk to anyone, even in the more remote areas of the county.
 
yeah, i don't know what it was like down there, but up here we have quite a wide range of climates for such a small geographic area.

i can have no snow on the grass and there will be 2-3 inches on the roads in parts of the county.

like i said, we got like 6 or 8 inches from the last sorta big storm, and 15 minutes down the road my father in law got like 12.
 
We're supposed to get around 4" tonight. Ready for Spring now and Wintered out.
