Happy hour starts in 5 minutes
I just wanna throw this out there, but any of you guys in the DC area or that might travel here, if you would like a good bourbon sampling let me know when your gonna be in town. If I am home, and the schedules work out, you can come over and sample a few hard to find bourbons.

No fail! I know from these threads we sound like acloholic's, but I really don't usually have a bourbon day more than once a month outside of tailgate season.

I won't get to the Four Roses I just bought for a few more weeks.

Sometimes it sucks to live far from there!!! I wish I could come see ya right now!
 
Just some more bourbon info, I have already purchased my tickets for this years Bacon, Beer, Bourbon, and Barbeque Festival at the Reston Town Center in Reston, VA this September. I might finally get a chance to try Pappy 15. I'd love to see some of you there!
 
Sipping on the ER17 - it's really nice! Very, very smooth but still plenty strong enough to warm on the way down.

#1 George T Stagg
#2 Eagle Rare 17
#3 William Larue Weller

My order of the 3 this year was

#1 Eagle Rare 17
#2 George T Stagg
#3 William Larue Weller

All 3 of these are superior bourbons though. Last year the Weller was the cream of the crop. Probably my #1 Whiskey ever. Either that or 2009 Stagg, close call. Can't wait to try this Four Roses!

My WLW has arrived!!! I wont try it for a bit though, want to have some company to share the first sip with.

They are not very hard to store at all compared to wine. They won't turn due to the alcohol content. If they have not been opened I just sit upright at room temp. If they have been opened and it takes you a loooooong time to drink a bottle I might store it on the cork to avoid evaporation. Mine never seem to last long enough to worry about this.

Then the day before I know I'll be having a nip I throw it in the freezer.
 
Good stuff, Thanks! How about light? Would having bottles out in the open be problematic at all?

I've never had a problem, but mine are not stored in direct sunlight. I might avoid that, but I've never heard of light being a problem.

Also letting them "age" in the bottle does not effect the bourbon. Once the bourbon is removed from the barrel the aging process stops. So if you let a bottle of 17 year old sit on your shelf in the bottle for 3 years it is not a 20 year old bourbon.

LOL, mine wont last anywhere near 3 years!

Not sure yet...I won't have a vehicle, so availability will be limited. I would like to try some nice bourbons though!

I'd give you a ride, but would have no way to get you back after partaking of the bourbon. If you can figure out a way to get here I got the bourbon!
 
So, here I was thinking I'd get me some HOF44 recommended Angel's Envy this week, when I find yet ANOTHER bottle of bourbon, gifted from the same person who gave me the Knob Creek, and Rowan's Creek.

It's Baker's. Seems to be right up the alley of the other two. With a slight kick up in alcohol.

Looks like next week for the Angel's Envy.
